Multi-User Internet Streaming Now Live

Internet RadioToday SIRIUS unveiled a new capability that allows multiple-receiver subscribers to have multiple online streaming accounts. Subscribers can enable multiple streaming access by visiting the Manage Your Account section on the SIRIUS homepage. The option will only be available to subs with more than one active radio.

The username you have used in the past to Manage your Account online should be your Master account. Each additional radio in your account should have the option to add an Internet Radio username. These additional accounts will be labeled as Service accounts and only be used to access the Internet Radio service. The Master account should be the only account able to view account information in the Manage Your Account section of SIRIUS’ website.

The upgrade comes as SIRIUS prepares to launch Howard Stern programming online.

The authentication for some of the external players (SIRIUS Yahoo! Widget, etc.) may be broken in prepararation for a more secure streaming environment to broadcast Stern’s show.

  1. thats pretty cool
  2. cool its about time
  3. One thing i do wanna know though. Does this mean the 10 login limit has been lifted? Other wise its pretty pointless still.
  4. Cant get my accounts to do anything...there is no step by step instructions on the manage your acct page?
  5. I image they actaully have lowered the number of simultaneous logins to be one per username. Also, if this were the case, then the number of back-to-back logins throught the day should no longer matter. I should be able to login 20 times for 10 minutes each if I wanted to... but I am not sure if that will be the way the new login system will work.
  6. This should work out pretty good.. I've wanted multiple login IDs for a while anyway.

I do think we're going to see a new market of selling the accessory IDs to Stern fans for a fee smaller than 12.95 a month however.

I had not thought about that one droobie, but you're right. The seperation between Master account and Service account allows a safe way to re-sell this access to others. That just puts a whole new twist on giving out a password to stream IMO.

This is not really a good thing.

I am SURE I could find a friend who sits at his computer in the morning, and tell him for 5 a month I'd give him one of my FOUR passwords. I'd only need two max a day anyway.

That makes sense if they allow simultaneous logins. I'm not sure if anyone knows the details on that yet. But if they do allow simultaneous logins, I am not sure I'd give one of my IDs out to a friend. I am paying to get the service...why should I give others a free ride?

You have to go into your account and setup logins for each radio...your prevoius master account won't log you into the online streaming...just into your account

Tried this and works fine...Also Yahoo Widget still works with the new logins

Couldn't Sirius shut off your access to Internet streaming for all your accounts if you were stupid enough to do that?
  13. None of my third party programs work since I went into my account and added a username and password on my second receiver. Yahoo Widget and stream_ON give me bad username/password messages. SiriuCE and SiriusWM5 on my pocket pc just don't work. The regular Sirius player works fine.

Get on AIM or our chatroom and I can help you through it.
  16. Just got me and my g/f's streams set up. If you have 2 accounts, you only have to manually activate the first 'SIRIUS Satellite Radio' section and the second 'SIRIUS Internet Radio' section will be already activated.

I hope there is a fix for the yahoo widget. The sirius player sucks in comparison to the widget.

They must have changed something last night. Because all day yesterday, the Yahoo Widget was working perfectly. In fact, it was working better than before. Previously it would cut out for no reason and I would have to change the channel to wake it up. But, after they added the multi-user log in and I added a second ID, it was working until this morning.

I suspect this is all in preparation for launching Howard online and may be a few days before the unofficial streams find a way to work with the new security protocols.

I care more about the widget than the multi-user accounts or stern online.
  20. I stream on 2 different comps at work with one account, and I got bumped out of one saying I was logged in at another location.

I don't have the dual login set up yet since I have two accounts, but I 'spose I need to soon. Anyone else get bumped off?
  21. Hi, just cross posting the fix for the Yahoo Widget
