Sirius’ David Frear Says All Radios Are FCC Compliant

Well, now they are…

David Frear (Executive VP and CFO) today talked at the Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. Strategic Decisions Conference about Sirius’ radios and their complaince with FCC guidelines. Frear stated that the FCC sent letters to their manufacturers several weeks ago asking for test results of the radios FM transmitter range. The manufacturers sent the results to the FCC and it turns out that some Sirius radios (he did not name specifics) did not comply with FM transmitter guidelines. These radios have now been fixed however.

  1. if XMs radios aren't compliant they definatly aren't because they are too strong. The FM transmitters in my skyfi 2 and my tao stink compared to the fm trans in my starmate. by soxnationonline

  3. I still wondering about all those tuners that were allowing FM Tranmitting on frequencies that were prohibited by the FCC.

    I have to give Mel and his crew a pat on the back, they do appear to be proactive in dealing with RIAA, FCC etc. We'll see how this pays off down the road. If you don't have to pay lawyers, it certainly saves you a lot of money. by DAB
  4. The transmitter on my SV1 seems very strong and can broadcast on any frequency
    I bet it's one of the ones that wasn't FCC compliant. by siriusinvt
