  1. I can't wait! It's going to be incredible. I dig so many of those artists and in some cases discovered (or apperciated for the first time) many musical acts through Howard's show.
  2. James Taylor had one of the best performances and I don't even really like him. Foo Fighters is another good one.
  3. Does anyone here have tips on recording the Howard show this weekend, and then parsing out the individual songs? I know that Radio Replays dont work with talk stations. Thx
  4. Is anyone able to record this and make it available through torrent or file hosting website?

I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated by all.

I would do it, but I don't have the proper setup.

I'd do it, but that would mean going without Sirius when I have to leave the house. No can do, sorry.

Something tells me after hearing this weekend's show, I'll finally breakdown and buy a James Taylor CD...and find my Foo Figthers disc!

Why would you even post this on a Sirius fan/insider site. Make 'em go buy Sirius... I for one, am a stockholder. Sirius and Howard get ripped off daily by many. Go hang out at Demonoid or something.

I'm only asking for those of us who will be listening this weekend but will not have the means necessary to record it in digital format.
  9. If you buy Replay AV, it's only $50 and can automatically record any channel on Sirius (or any FM internet feed) for any time you schedule as long as you want. It can convert to MP3 or other formats and import into iTunes or play on its own player. It's easy to use and you can start recording immediately. I use it every day and highly recommend it; just google "Replay AV".
  10. I've heard conflicting reports - is the special 8 hours? Or more? Want to try and record it from the stiletto...
  11. End of weekend countdown on the way....vote for Beetlejuice!
  12. I think I'm justing going to record the wrapup of the weekend. I listened for like 30 minutes and gave up. I don't like Alanis M., Learn to Fly by the Foo Fighters, then cheap trick...christ, give me a break...JUST GIVE ME THE BEST OF!!!
  13. Come on, that was a great version of "Hair" The Cowsills did. No I am not kidding! I hope they play Noel G's "Don't Look Back In Anger." I'm digging it, what can I say? Free your mind and your ass will follow.
  14. What ever happened to this chick, Tracy Bonham? One hit wonder!
  15. Anyone actually listening tot he entire thing? I've been going in and out, mostly out though. It will be good to listen to it on my long ridge home, though. RIght now Verrucca Salt "Seether" (I dug them a lot too and I know Howard was a big fan of the show). Willie Nelson and Jeff the Drunk duet of "Always on My Mind" with Howard and Robin commentary. I prefer the Pet Shop Boys verison over this, which isstill not as gay as Willie and Jeff singing together! Still Willie is the best! The Magic Johnson "Wipe Out" performance! Jackie's telling the story. This is some pretty great stuff. I hope I didn't miss Cyndi Lauper!
  16. It is very good.

I love the backstory before each song, this was very well produced, hats off to John Hein for NOT jumping the shark on this one!

Some excellent performances (and some not so good ones that put a smile a on your face)

The commentary is pretty good. I like the fact that Gary mentioned one bumper were Howard recalls the Black Crowes on there and all he says..."Yeah, we had the Black Crowes...they were good". Most of the other bumpers are really good and have great behind the scenes stuff. Both Robin and Scott are talking about Debbie Harry on the show (either before my time or a performance I missed). They were saying they thought her hearing was going out!
  18. Artie's intro for Train's Ramble On was one of the funniest things I've ever heard fall out of his mouth.
  19. Ah, thanks for the reminder!! I was just bouncing between NPR and my .mp3s but this should be good.
  20. My only complaint is every intro by Gary has to use the F word. I figured the one time I can sit around with my young kids and have Howard on would be the music special. Sure they might hear cursing, but I doubt Gary sits around his home dropping F bombs, come on guys, just because you are satellite doesn't mean you have to constantly fucking curse to get your point across.
  21. Robin's intro for Christopher Cross was pretty funny...Just goofed on the fact that he looks like a hump and that he wasn't even on the cover of his first album (I didn't even think about that, but she's right). It's kind of funny how in many cases they are goofing on the artists! I wonder what Artie said about "Ramble On" because honestly, I can't stand them! I'm really trying like hell to get fully into the whole thing but I can't. Too many songs I've heard before or just don't dig (in fact, it's starting to overlap from the hour or so I was listening yesterday). I guess it's great that Sirius has so much to chose from. Right now I'm loving this 90s Alternative channel (it;s supposed to be called Lithium 24 but I guess Courtney Love is a cunt, so it's irnoic that MTT replayed her appearance). It's really cool though...kind of like it's own music channel!
  22. It's not a bad show, but there's a lot of crapola to sit through to get to the gems. There were a lot of great musical guests on the show over the years, but many of them played only snippets of songs (or medleys) while others gave you actual performances. It's still fun to listen to, but it will be more fun to listen to with a fast forward button.

Also, why play commercials on shows like this? It always strikes me as a bit insulting to be paying for content, and still having to listen to advertising.
  23. I'm listening and reminiscing! This is great. As a fan for over 25 years this brings back some great memorites.

As far as I'm concerned you can take the vast majority of Richard and Sal's antics and give me some more of these great unscripted acoustic performances. The probelm now is that everything is planned and the musicians are ready and have great setups in the studio or in the fishbowl. Give me the off the cuff stuff anytime be it chatter among the gang or spur of the moment music from a guest.

That is what makes the Stern show so great!
  24. I tuned in for a few hours today and I thought it was GREAT.. No crap at all IMO. I like how they played the BJuice songs and Jeff the Drunk got into the action also. The band that played the Beetles music were real good. I hope they replay this so I can catch more.

That was the Fab Faux. It was one of the best musical moments from 2005, in my opinion. Here's a link to some of their performances...pretty good stuff.

  26. the thing that totally ruined this show IMO was the commericals and those damn howard100 news headlines.

Its a special we dont need the howard100 news just run it nonstop and let us enjoy. i found myself tuning out everytime a commercial came on and forgetting to turn it back.

Couldn't agree more. I read on another forum that there were well over 40 commercial breaks during the special, or a break every 3-4 songs. I haven't listened long enough to count them all, but I agree - who needs "news" updates and commercials during something like this?

I tired to phase those out but couldn't and ended up listeing to other stations quite a lot. Between 90s Alternative and 1st Wave, Strobe and the Howard music special, I can't go wrong.

    Hehe, Sirius needs the commercials.

But, I agree, there are wayyyy to many. So, I've just been pausing my S50 and waiting for the buffer to build up then skip the commercials. Been enjoying it!
  30. I'm going to have to listen to this on a replay of some sort where I can edit out or fast forward through all the commercials - there were some great moments in the segments I heard tonight. Too bad for all the interruptions.
  31. I'm loving this show. It's great to hear Fred speak and makes you wish you heard more of him and less of the teabag team. But the commercials seem as annoying and as frequent as regular commercial radio. If there is some reason this has to be done (money) or some special rationale for putting more commercials on recorded show, let's hear it. C'mon Howard. Tell when you are going to depart from the six minutes per hour your promised. Be up front as you urge everyone else.
