Tony Stewart Rips NASCAR on Sirius Satellite

Friday, April 27th, 2007

AS any race fan may know, last weekend (April 21, 2007) the Phoenix race was fairly fun to watch. Lots of close racing, a few debris cautions, a few accident cautions. The norm that we’ve become accustomed to.

After a closely fought finish between Jeff Gordon & Tony Stewart, Jeff won the race & Tony finished behind him.

As the broadcast wound down, interviews of the drivers commenced, but Tony Stewart had delcined all interviews and left the track. That action prompted some curiosity and an ensueing media frenzy had developed after Tony’s Sirius Satellite show, on NASCAR channel 128, called “Tony Stewart Live”, where he explained his actions.

Sanjaya Helping Sirius Satellite??

Sunday, April 15th, 2007

If you think I’m daft, well, yea, it sounds daft.  But even though his singing makes me cringe, Sanjaya is developing quite the reputation and continually gets spared from elimination from American Idol.

If you’re wondering how, there are many forces at work in trying to keep the worst singer in the competition.  One of the mechanisms involved in trying to keep Sanjaya from being eliminated is Sirius talk show host Howard Stern, who entices his audience to help discredit the premise of American Idol by calling in and voting for Sanjaya.

Stern’s efforts have slowly become a part of the American Idol enigma as non-Sirius subscribers are reading about Sterns efforts, drawing more attention to Sirius Satellite Radio.  Go Howard!!

The Drive For Listeners

Saturday, April 14th, 2007

As you can tell from the many announcements here on SIRIUS Backstage, SIRIUS is seeking new ways to obtain new listeners, and one of the paths of enlightenment is the automobile.

Almost 14 millions Americans have embraced satellite radio, but the key component to radio sales appears to be deals with major car makers.

To date, SIRIUS and XM have booked deals with car companies encompassing 39 different brands. Notable names on SIRIUS’s side of the ledger include Audi, BMW, DaimlerChrysler and Ford. Consumers have shown an appetite for factory-installed satellite radios, and the subscriber base built from these car deals continues to grow for Sirius.
