Sanjaya Helping Sirius Satellite??

If you think I’m daft, well, yea, it sounds daft.  But even though his singing makes me cringe, Sanjaya is developing quite the reputation and continually gets spared from elimination from American Idol.

If you’re wondering how, there are many forces at work in trying to keep the worst singer in the competition.  One of the mechanisms involved in trying to keep Sanjaya from being eliminated is Sirius talk show host Howard Stern, who entices his audience to help discredit the premise of American Idol by calling in and voting for Sanjaya.

Stern’s efforts have slowly become a part of the American Idol enigma as non-Sirius subscribers are reading about Sterns efforts, drawing more attention to Sirius Satellite Radio.  Go Howard!!

  4. I've never read a newspaper article that gives anyone any credit as to why he's still on.

    Granted, I don't read newspapers that devote an entire article to that stupid show, so maybe that's why. by dualsub33
  5. If you believe Howie is the reason behind Mangina's popularity I have some swamp land to sell you cheap. Howie is a publicity machine alright. Publicity for himself that is. He's hitched his star onto the website votefortheworst.com and is now claiming all the credit for it. Typical though for Howie. by kingofdmv

    He's taking credit for it? Is that why he had the owner of votefortheworst.com on the show? All he did was give his support to the website IMO. BTW, votefortheworst was very thankful for Howard's support. by loadfet17

    Every time Howard mentions what's happening with Sanjaya he says him AND votefortheworst.com have kept him in the competition. I don't think he's taking ALL the credit at all. by JKoffler44

    I've been thinking the same thing.

    It's funny how something that was started as an attempt to screw AI has been a godsend for them. Without Sanj, this would have been a bad season for Fox. by DoublEE

    OK, I'll bite. I realize this is a troll attempt from a guy who tries to defend XM and O&A in almost every post on this site but I'm bored...

    (1) He almost always credits votefortheworst.com on his show

    (2) He deserves most of the credit anyways. votefortheworst.com has been attempting to sway votes for three previous years with no exposure and little-to-no impact.

    The first year Howard gets on board and guess what happens? Everyone knows about votefortheworst.com and Sanjaya not only survives week after week but isn't even in the bottom three.

    So you tell me; didn't votefortheworst.com suddenly get their act together after failing for three years or did Howard's nod do the trick? I'm not a Howard fanboy; he definitely has taken credit for things in the past that were a stretch. But this isn't one of those times. by DoublEE

    Oh give me a break. Who made this an O&A Vs Howie thread? Not me. Howie and his never ending spin machine have put out press releases touting his hand in this whole Sanjaya thing. Votefortheworst has been around for a few years. I've even heard of them and I don't even watch the stupid show.

    I'd also like to ask goreds2 how Howie ended up with 20 million listeners. Got any proof to back up this ridiculous number?

  22. AI is milking this. By now they know that keeping Sanjaya in will make the ratings higher. As soon as he is out they will loose 30% of their heterosexual viewerships. I know I'll stop watchin'.     How do I know Howie is taking credit for Sanjaya without listening to him? Did you ever hear of a newspaper son? The NY Post has a love affair with Ole Hook Nose and his daddy Mel. There's not a week that doesn't go by that they don't print a Sirius press release and treat it like gospel truth. I don't spend all my time on internet message boards trying to save the world from people with differing opinions than myself. Sorry.

    As for me being an XM "fanboy". Yes I'm a big fan of XM and their radios and programming. I also listen to Sirius at home and at work. In fact I listen to Sirius more than XM now because I have my Sirius radio set up at work and only listen to XM while I'm in the car. I don't give two craps what certain people think about me, you included boy. Sorry I don't worship at the feet of Mel and Howie like you obviously feel a need to do.

    I'd love to see the Sirius "press release" about Sanjaya and Howard. From what I've seen and heard, Howard didn't make any press statements outside of what he said on his show. by TheScionicMan

  33. That article really doesn't prove anything, just makes unsupported allegations and then goes in a different direction. For anyone who listens regularly, I think they would find it very hard to believe that Howard is forcing Artie to go on tour. Quite the opposite, in fact.

    And as for a secret PR promotion, you do see the problem with that logic, right? The entertainment news has just as much reason to do stories about Howard by TheScionicMan
