begging-dog.gifGang, it’s been almost 3 years since we last asked, but we are coming to you again with an appeal for donations to keep the site running. As you all know, Jeff Hinson (aka TulaneJeff) and the admins have donated a ton of time, and money, to provide this wonderful online community and resource that we all use and enjoy. They’ve worked hard to keep this site as ad-free as possible (at least for members), not to mention keeping membership free as well. They run the site from their own pockets, with limited revenue sources available.

Unfortunately, they are finding it financially difficult to keep the site running. Our fast growth and all the merger-driven traffic is great for all of us, but for the admins, it’s become very expensive with hosting fees, site development, etc… They have even added a second server to handle the peak traffic and server too busy messages we have all seen. I guess you could say SBS has gotten bigger than we could have imagined a few months ago. You’ve also noticed that some of the features (like It’s_ON, and chat) are not available to ensure the forums, the core resource of the site, could be maintained.

Since Backstage is completely independent (aka no financial support from Sirius), and since we have limited revenue sources, support can really only come from our valued members. That is why I am asking for YOUR HELP!

But, when it comes down to it, this site is about a COMMUNITY of members who have been here and building this site for over 5 years now. It's truly encouraging to our team to see the community come together and help us out.

  20. In the first post where RoadRunner typed, "You've notice some features are not available like the chat room." I don't know if you guys are interested or not, but there a website called bravenet.com. It has some free features like hosting a free chat room. But I haven't used one of them in a while and there nothing to download. You only need a Java enabled web browser, just a suggestion?

    I've been with the forum for a while, basically from the time I switched from XM to Sirius. Well, I've had a lot of fun reading, getting inside info, and discussing everything Sirius and more. As time has gone on, I've realized that it would be hard to find another forum with as much entertainment, and as many like-minded people as there are in this one.

    So, with this donation, I hope the forum and news blog can stay around for many years, even if a merger happens and this becomes Siriux Backstage at some point.

    Use our donations wisely, and I'll be around. Thanks for the work that you guys do. If you need anyone on the forum's help as far as the website/forum goes, you could always make a thread requesting it.     The designation is optional, and completely up to the contibuting individual; some people (including some who have posted here) have chosen not to be so "designated". To answer your question more directly, NO, there is no minimun contribution to be recognized. Every bit counts and is appreciated!

    OTOH, anything over $1 million will recieve a special designation! LOL by RoadRunner

    You can check out the Sirius Community by going to SBS.

    I have given in the past. I feel that this is the main (but not only) community for the Sirius community.

    SBS will take donations through Paypal. Do you have a savings or checking account? Paypal uses the money from your savings or checking and it doesn't take long to set up an account. It only took me a few days to open a Paypal account. by semipenguin
