I'm so down for a dexys midnight runners channel. Just think. Start off with a live performance of come on eileen followed by come on eileen, a retrospective. All the come on eileen remixes oh and the rare extended version of come on eileen.

  6. I'm not the biggest fan of Duran Duran (I'm kind of neutral), but I still think this is a good promotion. I don't have anything against this kind of stunt; it actually keeps it interesting. And if you don't like them, it'll be easy to avoid them. Once they do this with bands that I'm more a fan of, it will be cool to tune in to as much as I can. I'm in the minority, but I say thumbs up.

Now that would be a cool channel DAWG! We just have to wait for them to release a new album and it will be coming soon! LOL
  8. I like the Old Duran Duran......their new song is kind of a plea, like they are saying "PLEASE buy our CD, we need $$." But instead everyone is going to hit Limewire, and DL it for nothing.
  9. Cool, a reason to actually check out Sirius Shuffle
  10. Last night, John Taylor was on for an hour or so, playing his favorite songs of 2007. Heard some Prince I hadn't heard anywhere else on Sirius before. So this doesn't have to be terrible radio...

That is the funniest thing I've ever read in this forum. Thanks!
  12. Wow, didn't even know the band was still around. Saw them sometime years ago when they opened for David Bowie. Hungry Like the Wolf was the only song and video I ever liked by them back in the day.
  13. I'm OK with a few days of a single artist channel, but E Street Radio, the Grateful Dead Channel, Elvis, etc. have got to go.

E Street Radio and Grateful Dead will go away eventually. The Elvis Channel is a multi-year renewable contract, I doubt we'll see it going anywhere unless Graceland decides to pull the plug on it.
  15. I much prefer an artist "takeover" of a channel than creation of Sirius-programmed single artist channels. Takeovers can give you an insight to what kinds of music inspires some of your favorites. Plus, by their nature, artists can't "takeover" a station for too long; they have "real jobs"

Elvis Radio is the only single-artist station that makes sense to me. Not because of the size of his catelog, or his enduring influence (which we could argue all day about), but because of the marketing oportunity. Million of fans visiting Graceland each year, all standing in long lines, listening to Sirius equals subscriptions before they load back up into the RV to head home. If you told me that Elvis Radio drove 100,000+ new subs every year, I wouldn't be surprised. If E-Street AND the Dead channel drive 100,000 new subs once, I'd be amazed.

I usually listen to SS and was not happy to hear DD were taking over. Some of the DD shows were quite good, like the one where they played their favorite punk songs from the 80's. Excellent! and these included some songs I never heard on Sirius. Sirius should give them a show for a few hours a week. It worked and I am no DD fan.
  17. Just saw over at Lee Abrams blog that XM has recorded a "Artist Confidential" show with Duran Duran that should be broadcast soon.

    Copycat!
  18. good deal. i remember a story i read somewhere about how a group of college students on vacation were complaining about a next door neighbor of theirs playing the same song over and over again in an apartment of sorts... turns out the song was ordinary world and they were duran duran... lol
