Bubba’s Renews Contract, Announces 2nd Show on FM
According to a media release this morning, Bubba the Love Sponge (r), the second most popular Sirius personality after Howard has had his contract renewed, albeit not known for how long. Bubba announced he was coming to Sirius in 2005, so if he had a two year contract previously, there is a good chance that his contract was renewed for another two years. Hear Bubba weekday afternoons on Howard101.
Tampabay.com is also reporting that he has inked a deal with terrestrial radio company Cox, to have a morning show in Jacksonville and Tampa(thanks BMF!). The two shows together are worth about $3 million to Bubba’s production company. This will be Bubba’s first time on the air on FM in 4 years. The show will air on a 10-second delay, and any pre-taped skits need to be approved by executives, as well as have the execs informed of any controversial bits ahead of time.
The question that arises is, can Bubba do 8 hours per day of talking and still be funny? Or will this be too much for him, and allow the show to implode? You’ll just have to tune in to find out.

I also wonder how the heck he could get even a quarter of his bits on the air with the secondary deal! At whatever rate, it's good to have him signed on with this renewed contract. I enjoy his show a lot. But for some reason (maybe it's just me) I feel like he should stick with one medium and hit terrestrial when his contract with Sirius expires.
If anyone can hear his shown in Florida and there is a way to hear it online I would love to hear his first show off Sirius! by sirisuperfan

Looks like I'm going to have to figure out an online recording mcgillicutty.
It may not be all bad having two shows. it could get him worked up for the Sirius show and he'll be chomping at the bit to let things get loose. I hope he was able to get more show control out of the deal. We need less overthinkers overthinking. by TheScionicMan
I think the terrestrial deal will be over quick within a year if you ask me. Local FM station here had the same thing happened while some of the talk was good most of it was not. Now that they scrapped it for way dry talk and crappy programming I finally bit the bullet and got Sirius myself. by GameZoneRadio
I just think its a bit weird that he will be on the air for 13 hours a day too. When will they find time to prepare and make new material? Wont they get burned out?
To me it just seems...kinda shaddy. And for all we know - either company can fire him in the next year. If his show becomes boring and people stop following cause he gets burned out...then he will be off both airwaves. Albeit 3 million richer... by FGCU
I like Bubba's show. I just think he should stick with Sirius and I can't imagine what his terrestrial show is going to sound like. Thanks for the online links.... I can judge for myself! by sirisuperfan
Makes me wonder how long the Terrestrial Overlords will allow that to go on before complaining that he is just shilling for Sirius. As others have said, I don't see this lasting very long. by srm59
We don't even know all the details. Will it be a full talk show on FM or will he be spinning records too? I think Bubba knows he's got a lot on the line like he said, if he fails on testicle-less he'll have even less bargaining power with Sirius on his next contract. by TheScionicMan
