‘Indie Talk’ Launches 2/6/08 on Sirius 110
Just announced: Indie Talk, a “groundbreaking talk radio channel” to “serve as an uncensored, unfiltered forum for independent thought and opinion.”
Indie Talk touts talk talent Ron Silver, who’s enjoyed an acting career since 1974. More recently, Silver has become politically active, serving as a member on the Council of Foreign Relations. He transitioned from Democratic to Independent party affiliation, praising the efforts of President Bush.
“Radio needs a change as much as the country,” said Silver. “Indie Talk will give voice to all individuals for an amazing national debate.”
According to the Press Release, Indie Talk promises to “give an equal voice to individuals from any affiliation or background […] and be a platform for listeners across the country to react to breaking news, issues[.]”.
The channel launches February 6, 2008 with the premiere of Silver’s call-in show, airing weekdays 9-11AM EST.
Will this new format appeal the current listeners of Sirius Left/Patriot? Will it draw in new listeners of political talk? Could a national “open-forum” news channel even affect the merger?

You're right about his acting. Updated the post. Thanks! by jeff94
First, Ron Silver is not some middle road guy. He's a right winger. He supported Gulianni. Nuff said. Second, Alex Bennet is not liberal. He really can't make his mind up about anything other than he thinks everybody is stupid but you. Perfect place would be this new channel, where he can tell both left and right wingers how wonderful and intelligent he is and how stupid you are. But at least he'll be undecided, which is great for middle-roaders. Third, BRING STEPH TO SIRIUS LEFT (aka, the REAL Sirius Patriot). by AvianWaves

I really cannot get into Alex Bennet, either. What he is about? by VinnyM27
Vinnie Politan, formerly of Sirius Court TV Channel 110, did a morning drive time that was awesome! His intelligence and fair play make him a great choice for the open 6-9 a.m. slot! He has a huge loyal fan base that will follow him and help him fill the air waves with new ideas and open discusssions!
Let's have a fresh channel with fresh faces and voices! This is the INDIE Channel it's meant to be OPEN and FRESH!
No room for compromise? Then don't go to Channel 110. Maybe this channel will evoke a new breed of American, one who can think for himself and not follow the crowd! Sometimes, it's not just about the money.
Good Luck Indie Channel 110! by Minnesota
We have a perfectly good political talk area in the 140's and an open channel in that area with the old ABC talk. But what do the moron programmers are Sirius do? They stick the new political talk stream on 110 with the comedy and entertainment streams.....
Then they launch the stream with only one show? by dantodd

Every morning Politan will take calls from listeners, gauge their reactions to breaking news, issues and buzz. Topics on the show will be caller and headline-driven and span the worlds of politics, entertainment, and beyond. by DAB
