To make room for all of the exciting new streams on SIRIUS the following channels will no longer be available: The Express (44); Jazz En Clave (61); Tropical (70); Alt N (72); Tejano (77); Sirius Arts (161); The Hook Up (167); Intimate (172); and Real Sirius (117).

Okay...

Sirius Arts, The Hook Up and Intimate were all axed back in November. How can they be removed again?!?

Is this a way to cover up that Sirius Country Hits and Sirius Rock Hits are going away? They sure aren't listed in the deletions but are gone from the new stream guide.

I say leave the Express and bring back the 90s pop!

Just trying to line all this up...

Changed in November...

Weather National = Original Weather Channel
Weather West = Sirius Arts
Weather East = The Hookup
Weather Central = Intimate
60's Vibrations = I-90
WSM = Empower

Will change in February...

Planet Rhyme = The Express
Wax = Jazz En Clave
House Party = Tropical
The Rave = Tejano
Jam Central = Sirius Rock Hits
Movin' Easy = Sirius Country Hits
Folk Town = Alt N

They are just renaming these channels...

Court TV Plus = Real Sirius
Sirius Left = Buzz
Sirius Right = Yak!

Yep, they are definitely trying to sneak Sirius Country Hits and Sirius Rock Hits out the door. I won't miss them...but they should at least be upfront about it.

Bring back I-90! :D

Here's Sirius' logic...

In the upcoming programming updates, the names of several of our streams will be changed. Stream 20, Sirius Rock Hits will become Jam Central on stream 17 and Sirius Country Hits will become New Country on stream 31.

They are claiming that they will simply be renaming those two channels. I guess they are totally overlooking the fact that that makes one less country channel, and Jam Central will be radically different from Rock Hits.

I listen to neither by the way, just want to make sure they offer full disclosure to all Sirius listeners who might miss these channels.

Jeff,

This topic's been up for two days, so far no one has posted that they're going to miss Rock Hits or Country Hits. I, like you, pass them by on a regular basis.

I would love to know what kind of research Sirius is doing to obtain information about what the public wants.

Are they asking subs or are they using the 'man on the street' angle?

Either way, I don't have much of a gripe over the new proposed channels. The Express, while well liked by some, isn't my speed. I may be happy to see added 'dance' channels given the programming on them is good.

Just my $.02

Sirius Country Hits will become New Country on stream 31.

That doesn't make any sense considering New Country 31 already exists:

30: Sirius Country Hits (Country Hits)
The latest Country hits.

31: New Country (Today's Country)
The sound of today’s Country.

I'm thinking that should have been worded differently. The way it's worded makes it sound like they are moving it to a new channel name not an existing one.

I think it should have probably read 'being merged' or something along those lines.

Maybe their choice of announcing that change wasn't completely straightforward.
