Default censorship_OFF is the way to go

I never really thought about the whole radio edit vs. explicit song debate. However, I was listening to Organic Rock the other day and they had the non radio edit of Lucinda Williams. It dawned on me that, that was what the artist intended. I mean, I always knew that, but hearing it made a much bigger impact on me.

Censorship_Off now and forever!

I agree. I almost am to the point where US-1 should be censorship_OFF as well. There are still plenty of streams (Pulse, StarLite, The Rock) that feature plenty of "wholesome" music which wouldn't offend people.

Sirius, LISTEN TO US, YOUR MOST LOYAL CUSTOMERS!!! Live up to your promise!

censorship_OFF

Absolutely, they must live up to the manifesto! The manifesto did not say censorship_OFF*

*except for streams that offend soccer moms in Best Buy

I'm not buying the in-store demo spill.

I'd bet listening at a kiosk ranks pretty low on what makes people go with the Dog.

I agree with you guys, this inconsistency really makes that manisfesto seem pretty worthless to most folks. Come on SIRIUS do what you say otherwise change your manifesto to match your actual policy towards censoring. You can't have it both ways.

I find this a bit disturbing. Personally on US1 I don't care if the songs are edited or not but Sirius has promised censorship off. Their manifesto, their word to us. To many the censorship issue is not a big deal but it only makes us wonder what they will do next. It really boils down to a trust issue.

Once these companies get big don't they all end up going back on thier word. I have no doubt there will be commericals on Sirius at some point. I am anti-commercial as much as the next guy, but then they start messing with the quality of the music and start censoring music and bowing down to soccer moms I draw the line.

I am curious as to what people here think of this.
While searching around the different streams I heard the unedited version of Busta Rhymes and Marria Carreys song Baby if you give it to me on one of the uncensored rap streams but the words were Baby if you get on your knees, I'll give it to you, I know you want it and it was very explicit. If you believe censorship should be off on streams like US1 should this song still be played or should it be ignored which is just another form of censorship.

I was thinking, with the exception of US-1 and The Pulse, Sirius is uncensored.

You may occasionally hear a censored song on 50 - Hot Jamz, if it is an older hit they forgot to change to the uncensored version, but e-mail them and they will fix it.

Still, the argument here is pretty much should US-1 be uncensored...right?

I thought that having the music uncensored was one of the things that satellite offered and why people are willing to pay for it
so all channels should be uncensored IMO

I'm sure, but there are probably concerns about people who listen in front of their kids. Or, the main concern is for big-box retailers like BB and CC who leave the model (if it even works) on US-1. They complained big time when US-1 was uncensored!

Sirius is in a tough position, just because you don't want to piss off your biggest retail partners like BB and CC.

I can understand that a Best Buy or a Circuit City wouldnt want to demo a satellite radio system if it was playing uncensored music, but how many people actually purchase Sirius because of a set up in a store. I bet most people hear about it from friends or family or demo the streams on the internet... in fact I don't think I have even found a store that had a working Sirius display.

I know with XM they can block the channels with the more explict language, can't they just do that for the soccer mom's rather than ruin it for the pure music fans. I think a majority of us are spending our hard earned money because we love the music and want to hear it the way the artist intended it to be heard, That is one of the advantages I thought Sirius had to XM. Keep the music uncensored no matter what!

If you have your kids or grandma in the car flip off the gansta rap for the trip, if you use common sense you can avoid offending people with your music. If you need a company to babysit your kids listening habits please stick to FM
