I've been listening a lot to the 60's stream lately (ah, music of my youth...). Not that it's a big deal, but there have been quite a few instances of songs from 1970 sneaking in with the 60's stuff.
Now, I subscribe to the unpopular theory that since there was no year "0", the first century began with the year 1 AD, so the latest century started with 2001. But there IS a year 1960, and, to me that's where the 60's started. Which means it ended in the year 1969.
Like I said, it's not a huge deal, but music took a bit different turn in the 70's. There was an explosion of new talent in 1970 (and a lot of one-hit wonders), and the music certainly sounded different.
Anyone have any insight on this? Does it happen in the other decade streams that I don't listen to? I know there is some overlap on stream 5, but I don't believe they promote it as a 50's stream.
The ''Sixties'' ended around 1972. That's also around where '60s Vibrations cuts off. You'll note that they don't start until around 1965, when Bob Dylan turned the Beatles on to pot.

Stream 6 is called 60s Vibrations as it goes from 64 up to 72, the era that had the ripple effects of the 60s. So, yes you will get songs from the early 70s on 60s Vibe as you will get songs from 1960-63 on Sirius Gold which basically covers the era of 1955 up to the Beatles 64 startup. They are not "true" decades streams in the tighest defintion, but you get the picture, and yes there is some overlap.
I know what I mean when I think 60's and 70's and I think they got it right.
While I remember 60's (70's better than 60's) I'm currently into the Trend. I like hearing new stuff as long as I don't have to listen to it all the time.

Rock 'n' roll's first decade was basically 1954-63, which is the era covered by Gold. 1964 marks the start of the British Invasion and is also the year Motown hit its stride, and this is where 60s Vibrations begins. It carries up to about 1972. There was some strong carry over from the late 60s during 1970-72. 60s Vibrations is very well done and really captures the feel of 60s and early 70s top 40 radio, especially with the use of the PAMS jingles that WABC and others used to enhance their image.
There's carryover in every decade and every era. To many of us, the 50s truly didn't start until Elvis Presley arrived (around 1955), likewise the 60s didn't really start until The Beatles invaded in 1964.
