Default New to Sirius...Why isn't the Sports Feed Channels...

Just wondering why the 3 Sport Feed channels and two reserved channels at the weather channels aren't being used for any sporting events ?
Does Sirius only use them on the weekends ?

They were using those to broadcast the NBA Games. There were so many games broadcast each night that they used those streams in order to get all the games on. Now during the off season they just have normal programming on them. I think they 3 Sports streams are idle right now. Maybe just doing pre-view stuff.

If you mean Sports 1, Sports 2, and Sports 3, (Streams 124-127), yeah they are just doing previews, they have the same thing as the Preview Stream (Stream 184)

Personally, I think they should drop those streams during the off season so the sound quality can improve on the news, sports, talk and entertainment streams. The 3 sports streams make 103 streams. Dropping those would make 100 streams. They can bring them back during the NBA season.

Just my opinion, of course

jc: I believe that there is no additional bandwidth used as they are simply mapping out one stream to four different channels. I'm surprised they haven't done that with weather when they are simulcasting. They could definitely save some bandwidth.

I think they shouldn't have the same thing on the 4 streams. As far mapping out one streams to 4 different channels I never heard of such. How is that possible? They just simply stimulcast one stream on 4 different channels?

I should correct myself here. There's no Stream on 127. That used to be where OLN Adventure Radio was but that was dropped when OutQ was added.

Of course I didn't have Sirius at that time.
