Wow, this is good news, and it looks like Sirius is getting creative with ways to market their service. Interesting that they show a picture of a Kenwood H2A, but they just say get a free tuner. Hopefully the tuner is an H2A and not a bait and switch.

It looks like this offer is sponsored by just the dealer. I doubt Sirius or DirecTV have any involvement.

It is for a plug-n-play, but one link shows a Shuttle and the other a H2A. I guess you take your chances with which model you receive.

You got that right, check this out:

"6. GoDirectNow makes no commitment as to the manufacturer or model # of my free satellite radio."

They could be giving away old Jensen's or AudioVox FM Modulated units. Since they show both PNP's that wouldn't make customer's too happy, but there aren't any guarantees.

Also I would think that Sirius would be subsidizing this in someway because otherwise it could cost in excess of $100k just for the giveaway if they are using PNP's which seems a bit steep for a dealer to swallow.

Great news. They are sure spreading out and teaming up a lot of diffrent companies. If I didn't have such a good cable company I would dive in for this deal.

I thought XM had some kind of a deal with DirecTV. A colleague who has DirecTV told me he has seen an infomercial for XM on DirecTV. Anybody know about this for sure?

Was it an infomercial that was on a DirecTV programmed channel, or he saw it on a cable channel and it just happened that he uses DirecTV? For example, Sirius has had some infomercial stuff on ShopNBC before, but if I saw it on Comcast, that doesn't mean that Comcast has a deal with Sirius.

You maybe better served to ask this over on XMFan.

Actually, DirecTV owns a chunk of XM. Keep in mind though that this deal is done by an INDEPENDENT dealer, and has nothing to do with any special offer(s) by DirecTV themselves.

In Late 2001 - Early 2002, XM has its own channel on DirecTV for several weeks that replayed their infomercial at the time. It demonstrated the XM radio, and had interviews with my of their DJ's and program directors.

DirecTV and XM had partnered with each other to endorse each others products, but that's all that ever surfaced with the agreement so far. So I do not know if it expired already, or if they just decided not to pursue anything else together.
