The mix is still less repetitive than Sirius's new Sabo programming. If you judge "corporateness" by how closely a station or "stream" sounds like a regular fm station, the mix is not that corporate.
I would think that Infinity actually has more involvement in XM, considering that Infinity's parent company Viacom controls MTV and VH1 radio on XM. Last time I checked, Infinity controls zilch of Sirius.
Sirius is NOT that repetative. Christ, US-1 is repetitive because it is Pop, Pop burns hot and then dies quick, look at all the other mediums that play pop, same deal. They have to play some songs over again, because for people who only listen in the car if they hear "Bob, Sue, and John - We Love Swimming in Rivers" or whatever the hell ecletic stuff they'd play instead it'd piss em off. No one wants to pay 13 a month to hear songs they've NEVER heard about, or cared about. If you hear St. Anger 10 times a day, deal with it, it happens when you listen to radio 20 hours a day (Once every two hours), and it's not like every song gets the same airplay as Metallica, so it's not like every song is on every two hours. Radio has to work for both people who listen 20 hours a day, and those who listen in 10 minutes bursts in the car. That's why we have other stations, because there is only so much music you can play, and if you get to eclectic, it sucks to listen to in small bursts, so when one stream starts to wear you out because you've been listening to it for 20 hours straight, switch to another one for a bit. It's hard to get that mix of hits/non-reptition right, but I think Sirius is where it needs to be for it.
So all you Sirius fans keep harping about CC's involvemnet in XM, eh? At least that's all out in the open. What's the deal with Sabo and Sirius? ANy one have any details or is this gonna be some huge secret like alot of other things are with Sirius?
No, Ziggy. We all know but we aren't telling. We took this serious pledge, you see, and we take it seriously. Otherwise the big bad moderator may spank us. Any similarity between the comments above and a certain other satellite radio fan site is simply in the mind of the reader.
With Sabo the repetition has stayed the same or decreased. The biggest change under him so far is that now we are getting deeper playlists, where every now and again you hear a "I forgot about that" song that comes on the radio. That's been my experience so far under him.
The only difference I have seen with Sabo is that:
a) Pat St. John has come on board The Rock. He is a little more safer with songs, but he has put in a gem or two in there. He also seems to have some more radio facts in there and has slightly more 'themed' sets.
b) My 3 Songs. That is one of my favorite features on Sirius. And for those of you who listened to it today, you heard my last name .
c) repetition on US-1 has decreased since Sabo came. It was only a week or so afterwards when Jeff commented on the repetition period, but that was going on for a couple weeks-a month before Sabo came. Now it sounds even better than before.
b) My 3 Songs. That is one of my favorite features on Sirius. And for those of you who listened to it today, you heard my last name .
One of my favorite features if they would play my set. I have submitted two different sets and have yet to hear back from them. I think this is your 2nd set isn't it?
