Does buying a radio help or hurt?

I noticed somewhere that ever satellite radio and antenna is paid for in part by the service to make the price more affordable.

So, does buying or upgrading a radio help them or their bottom line or hurt it?

It either hurts it or is neutral. If you buy a unit and sell/give away the old one, it will not hurt or help them. If you toss the old one, it hurts them. If you buy a plug and play for car/wheelchair and house and sell the old one instead of buying a new unit for the second location helps them the best.

Every new customer buying their first radio hurst Sirius' bottom line. They take a loss on the hardware in order to get you to sign up. They hope to recoup that by you paying your monthly fee for years to come.

It's the same in the wireless phone indstry as well.

This is right, so for all of those that are upgrading, either give your old radio to a good home that will subscribe, or sell it which almost guarantees it will be used for another subscription. Let's do our part to help the company succeed
