Default Stream Changes - Next Round September 1

Well, after all of my constant bitching about the poor quality programming on Speed Channel Radio, I just received confirmation that Stream 123 will change to "Sirius Sports Action" on 9/1. I also received a message from the President of Speed Channel indicating that their arrangement with Sirius is changing and that they are also doing biz with XM. Anyone else hear of other programming changes? I wonder why they put 'live' in quotes??? Here's what Sirius' "customer care" has to say...

Thank you for contacting SIRIUS regarding stream 123 Speed Channel Radio. Speed Channel Radio, Stream 123 will become Sirius Sports Action, Stream 123 on September 1st.

Sirius Sports Action
Our flagship home for play-by-play action, including NBA and 'live' motor sport coverage. Weekday mornings, Mayhem in the AM serves you a big cup of caffeinated chaos, live from 6 - 10 AM. Hosts, Mike Bell, Beau Bock, Steak Shapiro and Mitch Evans bat around headline topics from sports and beyond. Evenings, Don't miss SPEED Channel's hot new show- Wind Tunnel with host Dave Despain. Beginning September 1st, Wind Tunnel
is "live" on Sirius Sports Action- 4 nights a week! Join Dave for a complete tour of the world of motorsports. Along the way, Dave invites you to respond or comment LIVE by phone or email. Every weekend, get your motor running with Overdrive Weekends. We'll take you trackside with Oval Track, Sirius' exclusive pre and post race show, and we'll put you in the driver's seat with 'live' racing from SPEED. Let Sirius Sports Action be your source for complete sports coverage and play-by-play action.

We are dedicated to providing quality service and customer satisfaction.
We encourage comments on how we can improve our service.

Sincerely,

Niki

Woo-hoo! It looks like a semi-improvement for stream 123. Although to me it seems like nothing more than adding a new show and moving Mayhem in the AM over to the Sports Streams from Sirius Talk.

I agree. Just have to see what other progams are on there when 9/1 comes.

Could this mean they will also be broadcasting NASCAR races live soon?

Sure they might, just as soon as XM's exclusive agreement is up.

It is really close to September 1. Dont you think that Sirius would advertise or at least tell us about them b4 they do the changes??

Oh wait, this is Sirius we are talking about

Must not be a major lineup change.

I listen to nascar on xm when its not on local tv and see they changed from the MRN network to the PRN network, Performance, Racing, Network.

I do find the speed channel programming just as fucked up as cnet on xm. The prrograms are repeated, out of time sync, a show may not have commercials, then rock music for ten minutes till the next hour, etc. Its rather strange to hear the nascar talk before or after a race and having to flip over to xm to hear the race. I like the fact they air the other races, but I am not interested in those.

If Mayhem in the AM is moving from talk, wonder what will be in its place? I think sirius talk needs more off the hook uncensored talk like the King Dude. Right now, I think xm has more colorful programming on the xtreme channel, even if its censored. Yeah, outq is uncensored, but I want to hear other things then just about sex and stuff.

Jeff, MRN is owned by International Speedway (NASCAR) and does MOST of the radio coverage. PRN is owned by Speedway Motorsports (Bruton Smith) and does the radio at their tracks- Charlotte, Bristol, Texas, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Sear's Point.
