I thought the Insider Forums could only be read/accessed if you logged in. I don't know if it occurred with the site redesign, but I was able to read/access the Insider forums w/o logging in.

Yes, this is intentional.

The Insiders forum powers our news feed on the new front page, thus the need to open it up to everyone.

The private element may or may not return.
