Default XM cross country tour

New York City Media Availability for Monday, September 1, 2003 -- XM Satellite Radio, the nation's leading satellite radio service, will broadcast live from midtown Manhattan on Monday, September 1 (Labor Day), as two XM Radio on-air personalities hit the road for a cross-country tour across America in an attempt to broadcast from every state in the continental U.S. in 14 consecutive days.

Driving a customized Cadillac Escalade SUV, the two XM disc jockeys will attempt to visit and broadcast from every one of the 48 states where XM Satellite Radio is available in just two weeks.

Dubbed the "XM Xpress Tour of America," the trek begins in New York City and ends 10,000 miles later in Detroit, Michigan on September 14. XM is touring the country as the company builds toward 1 million subscribers. XM reported it had over 692,000 subscribers as of June 30. The company is expected to hit the one- million-subscriber mark later this year.

XM Satellite Radio is the fastest-growing consumer audio product in the last 20 years, according to The Yankee Group. XM delivers 100 digital channels of music, sports, news, talk, and other entertainment choices, many of them commercial-free. Listeners can tune into XM Radio from coast to coast on their car radios, home stereos, computers, and portable boom boxes.
