Default One good thing about IBOC/HD Radio

is that it will raise the audio quality bar and put an end to this crazy talk about video.

The terrestrial people will (in many cases) use their generous 96 Kb/s allocations to broadcast stunning audio which the SDARS people will have to try very hard to match. All extraneous bandwidth robbing pursuits, e.g. TV pictures, will have to go in order to compete.

One can only hope that is the case.

For whatever reason, Clayton seems married to this crazy video idea.

I agree they shouldn't come out with video if it will degrade the existing streams in any way. If they can get some extra bandwidth allocated by the FCC, then it would be ok.

I wouldn't bet money on many things, but I WILL bet that Directv and Dish Network are not going to sit idly by and not challenge the FCC giving more bandwidth to satellite radio for video.

Fuhgedaboutit.

They might not sit idly by, but the FCC can make these decisions if they are good for consumers and competition. The Sat TV companies have in car programming using the KVH antenna product and this could be a competing product in that market. All they would need would be enough bandwidth for a few quality stations for it to be viable.
