View Poll Results: Should there be promos on the music streams?
It is actually the first taped promo I have heard on any music stream, but it was kind of weird, but it got the message across. It was something along the lines of "Pamela Anderson just turned Jay Leno on --- To Sirius. Listen for her show coming to Sirius soon.
So it is time for that debate: should there be promos/are they commercials?
I'm sure people knew that this was coming, but this seems like a newer trend for Sirius to wait and try to keep stuff under wraps. Just look at the way they are treating the Boombox and JVC PNP compared to the SRS and H2A. It seems that they don't want to let tons of people know so far in advance.
Limited self promotion is cool to me, it allows me to see what else is going on. If I wanted just music and nothing else, I may as well go back to CDs. I do like the human touch to Sirius, added in the right amounts...not like overkill on regular radio. So for me I dont consider it commerical ads, just self promos and as long as it doesnt get as frequent as ads on regular radio, I dont mind.
The human touch is fine. A pre-produced bit with background noise and hustle delivery is not that. It is a commercial.
If they knew a week ago, they should have had the jocks mention it, not suddenly start running annoying commercials for it.
What's the big deal anyway. What's a biker chick with fake breasts going to bring to the table? On the radio? For an hour a week?
At 2 in the afternoon?
