I sent Haneen an e-mail saying they should include more live music on stream 2.
Here is her response...
Thanks for your message.
I've seen your name frequently in our Inbox, so I know you're a regular listener to The Pulse, and I appreciate your comments.
Regarding live music, while we do play some live music on The Pulse, it's not likely that it will ever be heard more than as a novelty or specialty feature.
Being part of our "Pop Streams" means, that in large part, we stick with the hits--and that means hit versions, too. As a rule, you will hear more live music across the other genres, than you will on the Pop Streams.
However, we do have a huge library of live music, and we do certainly make room for them. Sirius Sessions/100, when not playing live Sirius performances in our hour-long format, plays only live music. And a great majority of it is indeed recorded at Sirius.
I hope that helps, and again, I do appreciate hearing from you.
While Sirius' commerical free music and less annoying bumpers make the service far superior to XM's. There still remains 1 glaring hole in Sirius' programming. That is the lack of a dedicated 90s station.
I am sure that you have gotten many e-mails from listeners about this. I think I may have sent one as well. When I recommend satellite radio to friends, that is one of the only positive points that XM has over Sirius.
Programmers at Sirius should really push to have a 90s stream added to the programming lineup.
Also, Sirius should really consider starting a weekly program, (maybe on Stream 135) that features the hottest new songs from television shows and movies.
The WB and FOX have made a point to feature new artists and songs in their television series. I think this could be a great enhancement to Sirius' programming.
HER RESPONSE:
I appreciate your suggestions.
Yes, I have seen more than a few requests for the 90's stream to return to Sirius. While I'm happy to pass those comments up the chain of command, I do think that it's important to also make customer service aware of your hopes for whatever channel, or programming you'd like to hear at Sirius. The more messages they receive on a given idea, the more likely changes will happen. We do listen to Sirius subscribers, and your opinion does make a difference.
With that said, our messages here are automatically forwaded to customer service...so you've now been heard!
I'll pass your idea about Soundtrack Music to the programmers in the Talk department. I think it could be a good one.
Haneen get's my vote as one of the best program managers. I'm a fan of the three stations She programs, The Pulse, Starlight, and Moving EZ. Once I realized she programs Moving EZ I decided to give it a try and is nice for a chance of pace. That's what I'm listening to right now.
Oh yeah, and she's going to put my request on tomorrow night for Love Songs even though I stretched the limits of what might be allowed for their show format which is really cool!
