Default Who Wins: Detroit Red Wings or Calgary Flames

Manco created a thread for the discussion of our favorite series, I thought it would not clutter things up to much to have a thread for each of the other games. Feel free to vote for your pick to win the set, post how long you think the series will go, or any other thoughts on this series.

No one should doubt my Red Wings hating credentials, but they're the better team in this set. Wings in 5 games.

Glad to see you put your hating credentials aside for an honest opinion. Couldn't agree more. The Wings are the better team in this series. Not sure about the 5 games - I think more like 6.

Flames in 7. Flames are a fast team and I would expect them to use that to their advantage.

I hate to vote for the Wings too, but I'd have to agree that they'll take this series.

Great win by the Flames tonight! Although I've picked the Wings, I would love to be wrong here. Congrats to the Calgaryians!

Shame about the Yzerman injury. Appeared to be accidential, but nobody's happy when a star player goes down. Stevie is a great player, and will be missed. In many ways I see him as the Anti-Joe. Wears #19, captain of his team, great skills; but the pure evil opposite of the pure goodness of Joe Sakic. Detroit's going to have a hard time getting these next 2 games without him.

Wait a minute. Stevie is one of the true class players in league.

I agree bigrock. That why I called him a great player, and expressed regret about his injury.
But I can see where you could take offense to my "Anti-Joe" comment. I was just trying to make a point about how their roles are similar, yet they play for rival organizations. And in doing that I painted my team as all good, and your team as all bad. I did not mean to imply that Yzerman is evil. I know that is not true, and if I've offended you, I apologize.

It's all good. I just hope we both can come back and win the next two. Avs and Wings makes for some great nights here.

Agreed. Although Manco might not think much of the idea, I'd contract the whole Western Conference to Colorado and Detroit and watch that matchup 82 times a year! And I'm a believer in the old axiom: "If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best."

Flames Win!!! Great game and great series. Although I loyally listened to the for the first period and a half, I had to turn on ESPN (Shut Up, Melrose!) to watch the second half. It was a late game, and I don't know how many of the east-coaster were still watching when it finally ended about 1:40am EDT. Whoever gets out of the Sharks-Avs series had better be ready for a handful with these Flames.
