Default air america taking place of sports channel?
what ever happened to the sports play by play channel that air america now occupys? i don't have sirius and am jsut wondernig. it used to be 125 that sports play-by-play 3 thing. waht is it now? seems dumb they'd put air america right in the middle of the sports things... hmm.

It was only used when necessary. Air America will be pre-empted, but only when necessary.

That has actually been the case too, which I am really proud to see. I still would like to see Air America on its own channel in the Entertainment Category.

If Sirius picked which channels go, it would be more or less in this order:

-Play by Play 1
-Play by Play 3
-Weather 1, 2, 3
-Sirius Sports Action
-Sports Byline USA
-Sirius Talk
-etc.

On any given night, perhaps 7, 11 or 13 streams are needed for games. They will use 125 last, so most nights Air America programming will NOT be interrupted (or pre-empted, as radio/tv people like to say).

It's kind of weird. If I browse to the sports section of the Sirius website, I see 125 listed as Sport Play-by-Play 2. If I head over to the Entertainment listing 125 is listed as Air America.

I agree with other posters who point out that Sirius is working hard to make this particular stream sharing work out.

NBA and NHL Games are starting to wind down the season. Only about 3 or 4 channels will be needed as the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the playoffs begins. Once the Leagues Respective Championships begin (Stanley Cup Finals and NBA Finals) begin in June only about 4 streams will be used. one stream for each home team. I think Sirius did this last year for the N.B.A. Finals they had the home team call for each team in the Finals.

...and the NHL may not be back in the fall. Not because of any problem with Sirius, but just the CBA issues might prove too difficult for these two sides to get solved anytime soon.
