Default Soul Revue (Strm 53) - First time listening - It smokes!!!!

A friend suggested that I listen to Soul Revue to get a feel for what they play there (long story)...

I figured I'd give it 10 minutes before I got bored and change it...
I ended up listening for 5 hours!!!!

I didnt realize that I knew so much Motown and Classic Soul stuff... I heard great stuff that I havent heard in years.. By the way, i dont think I heard any repetition (other than two groups covering the same song...)

I'm hooked... Which is a real a bad thing cuz I'm already hooked on Backspin, Sirius Blues and Alt Nation....

Thanx Interp.. Strangely AZJoe was indirectly involved in the long story LOL

I was listening again this morning, and the jock really advertised the hell out of my other favorite channel - Backspin...

Gotta love Sirius and the non-competition amongst streams...

I am glad you discovered Soul Revue 53!! It is one of my favs!! They have been working hard at making this a great example of what classic soul/r&b and old skool is suppose to be. I think its playlist is much deeper than most other music channels, and they keep adding to it!! And the jocks are first class!! Yes, I am excited that another fan of this great American music has found this Sirius offering!!

Default me too!

I love soul revue too! It is the second preset for me after 70s. This is 100% improved in the past few months. I listened about 6 months ago and it had a lot of music that i wasn't familiar with. Now I know and love most of it.

One of my best buds just bought Sirius after I had Soul Revue playing while we were tiling my kitchen.

One of my favorite channels too, the music selection has improved and the dj's are great!! I think if more people just sampled it, they would know what they are missing...there are so many great classics here!

I am living proof that your statement is true... I'm hooked from a 10 minute "mercy" sampling of the station...

Shows you how much I pay attention - I didnt realize there was a Classic Soul & Motown channel before last week... And even had i known, it probably wouldnt have interested me...

The Soul Revue stream could be a real Sirius asset if they were able to get people to listen to it for just a few minutes (or while tiling a kitchen)

Sirius, Did you hear that??

I have never heard the Delfonics on Soul Revue. Maybe I don't listen enough. Has anyone else heard the Delfonics? I love the Delfonics, the Manhattans, the Stylistics, etc.

One of the things I notice while listen to the stream is that I know many of the songs and I know most of the bands, but for about 80% of the songs on the radio I cant place a song with a band....

I've heard of all 3 bands in your post, but no idea what their songs were...

Alas, if FM had a song/artist display all those years, Im sure I'd be better at this LOL

And they do like requests and play them. Enjoy.. keep listening!! Old skool weekend coming up!!!

Those are some sweet sounds. Hope they also play "a few others", as many times those are better than the "big hits".

Oby, you sound like you would love Dave the Rave's "Relics and Rarities" show... (Check out www.davetherave.com for lotsa audio samples... (They're under "Audio")

And if you like it, send an e-mail to Sirius that they should have programming like that...
