How about Jammin oldies, old school, funk & classic R&B jamz from "back in da day"? Heart & Soul plays some, Soul Revue plays some...but no dedicated channel to late 70s to early 90s? XM has the Groove, will Sirius look into this type of offering? I am new to Sirius, and think it would be a great addition to the programming. Not every African American wants all hip hop, there are other genres of R&B for the adult listeners. Thanks.
Andre

When Sirius first came out in 2002, the had The Express, an R&B old skool channel, playing 1975-1995 hits. In February 2003 they dumped it (my fav channel), and added more hip hop and rap selections. Heart & Soul tried to fill in the gap. Heart & Soul does play some of the songs and era talked about Andre, but it also plays current Urban AC songs also. There is alot of overlap with Slow Jamz as well, I would bet 75% of their playlist is the same. I keep hoping for the return of a true "old skool/funk" channel, but after nearly 2 years, I dont hold much hope. It truly is an afront to all those over 35 who grew up with this classic music. To assume all African Americans and others for that matter want hip hop or rap is a silly notion. Its like saying all white Americans listen to country music. I really don't know what to tell you, just let Sirius know you arent satsified with thier urban choices as they are now presented-- a big hole in the programming is evident!!

I don't think he meant in the regards. Its more along the lines that the labels and Sirius are geared more towards the young crowd these days (18-34 market) and "ignoring" the older age group musicial preference.

I say 90%. If I hear that damn Prince song "Call My Name" or "Still In Love" by Teena Maria on either stream again (much less, 15 minutes apart ), I'm going to scream...........
Yes, I meant more of an age catagory than the other....it seems they are assuming a certain ethnic group will listen to a music genre that appeals to 12-30 year olds mainly. I hope they know people of all ethnic and age groups have varied listening habits.
