Default Streetbeat has been canned!

Quote:
With the update, Street Beat // Channel 44, will no longer be available. If you are a regular listener to Street Beat // Channel 44, please note that similar programming may be heard on Hip Hop Nation // Channel 40, Hot Jamz // Channel 50 and-once it debuts-Shade 45 // Channel 45.

Yeah, if anything they should get rid of hip hop nation and change it to street beat. Street beat is a cool name, hip hop nation isn't....well, IMO anyway.

I'm highly disappointed in this decision. Streetbeat was my favorite channel. I guess it's just Hot Jamz for me now. I liked the option of going back and forth between the two if I didn't like what one was playing. Oh well, life goes on. :\

Isn't it possible that the Shade channel will make up for this, or cover what it covered? I don't know much about what they're planning for that one.

From what Shade 45 has been described as, I don't think it will be too similar to what Street Beat was. It will still be Hip-Hop, but I would highly doubt that it would be anything similar to Street Beat.

That said, I will certainly give it a listen though.

maybe this is a good thing.... for hip hop nation. HHN and SB have always shared songs and also had their own exclusive songs per channel. But there was no rhyme or reason why a song was played on HHN and not on SB. Sirius never made a deciding factor between the two. So HHN song list is bound to grow. SOMETHING IT DESPERATELY NEEDS.

Streetbeat had no DJ's and basically was set up as a jukebox with promos mixed in. So im not surprised it got canned over Shady 45.

I will miss "Street Beat" as well. As far as comparing channels, I would say that "Street Beat" had much more in common with "Hot Jamz" than with "Hip Hop Nation" as far as music goes. I don't like Hip Hop Nation because they are too deep for my tastes, and play weird album cuts and more unknown stuff. I liked Street Beat because it was the big mainstream hip hop hits. I hate to see it go because I'm sure "Shade 45" will be another deeper type channel like Hip Hop Nation that goes off on tangents playing unknown stuff. I guess it's just Hot Jamz for the big hip hop hits now. Personally, I think they should have moved Street Beat to the "pop" section (if there was more channel room there, which there isn't right now) and make it a CHR/rhythmic hits channel that plays the big hip hop and rhythmic hits in an edited form. They could then have Hits 1 for CHR/pop and Street Beat for CHR/rhythmic. Also, if they did this and made it an edited channel, then it would create a Hip Hop channel that parents could listen to with their kids. (Something that is currently missing on Sirius.) Also, it would leave two choices for hip hop and rhythmic hits (Hot Jamz for unedited hits and Street Beat for edited versions). Anyway, this is just my thinking. I know it won't happen since their isn't any room in the pop section. I wish they'd dump some stupid waste of space channels like "Discovery Radio, "E! Radio", "Court TV", and the new "Maxim", which are all a jumbled up waste of space and use that bandwith to create more music channels. Also, as far as the Pop section, they could consolidate some of the AC channels. StarLite, Sirius Love, and Movin' EZ have tons of overlaps and one of these should be canned and consolidated into one of the others. This would make room for a CHR/rhythmic in the pop section, or maybe a dedicated 90's channel so the Pulse doesn't have to do both Hot AC and 90's.
Anyways, just my thoughts. But I do hate to see Street Beat go to make room for Shade 45, which I really think will be a hodgepodge of hit and miss stuff, instead of a good 24/7 format.

brh, great post. I hope most of the songs on Streetbeat move over to Hot Jamz because Hot Jamz should be called Hot Repeats. If they move over half of the playlist of Streetbeat, the stream probably won't sound that half that bad anymore.

I thought I was the only one to miss that. If you want to listen to R&B and rap, you have no way because everything is uncensored and Hits 1 doesn't even play most of the songs.

Default i actually like hip hop nation...

I felt that hip-hop nation was much more diverse in its playlist and that's what i came over to sat radio for... to hear the hidden jams, noncommercial jams... If i wanted to only have the same songs over and over (what some people called hits), i would have stayed on fm, so I usually stay away from sb and hot jams...

I've been missing Streetbeat. Hot Jamz plays the same tired songs over and over . They still haven't moved any of the song over into the Hot Jamz playlist. At least with Streetbeat, if Hot Jamz sucked (which it does alot), I could just move to another rap song but not anymore. Bad idea, Sirius. Bad idea.......

My feelings EXACTLY! I did this often and it was nice to have that option, now I just have to hope that Hot Jamz isn't playing something that I don't care for.
