Check it out. Says (without very specific numbers) that after surveying 300-400 Hyundai buyers, the Korean car company reported a surprising "number of write-ins...not comfortable with programming from Stern". Hyundai decided to go with XM.....hmmmmm.

I love when the news media is manipulated by business. I highly doubt that a poll of just 300-400 buyers (out of tens of thousands) would be a primary motivation for closing a major car manufacturer/satellite deal. Seems very obvious that XM needed to use the Media to hit back at the soaring Sirius subscriptions due to their major windfall signing of Stern.
Looks like they are trying to turn the tide with some vague stats caressed to suit a new media strategy against Sirius. XM must be feeling the pain.

By the way I don't doubt that many many people who are looking for Satellite radio object to or hate Howard Stern, but the real question is does Stern sign up more people than he scares away? I think that's a resounding yes. Personally I was all set to subscribe to Stern, had a busy period where I didn't get around to it and then came the Sirius announcement. Good thing I waited.
