Dunno if any of you xbox modders out there have looked into this, just found it myself...got it working (though the stream seems about 4 mins slow based on the playlist vs what I'm hearing). The app does take a while to get going and caching before it plays, and you'd have to wait this out each time you change the channel, but other than that it seems to work pretty good:

http://www.sacknet.org/sirius/

Ran a channel search and found that She Hates Me/Puddle Of Mudd was listed at 2:01 PM while it actually played on my xbox at approx 2:05PM.

This might do until I can afford to buy a home dock and sir6!

Holy cow does it take a while to "buffer"...I've been sitting here waiting on a 1.0 mb DSL line for 5 minutes, and it's only at 15.63%!! Jeepers!!

EDIT: Finally got the stream up (it only takes a 18-20% filled cache), but it seems his channel numbers are messed up. I keep trying to go to what's LABELED "Sirius Hits 1" (Sirius // 1), and I keep getting "StarLite" (Sirius // 2). His channel numbers (at LEAST) one off.

EDIT (again): trying to startup The Pulse (Sirius // 9) starts streaming The Bridge (Sirius // 10).

Yeah, I was watching it and thought it had to go to 100% too but then heard the tunes start playing at about the same point.

I even killed some downoads I had going as I thought they were the reason the caching was taking so long. Not sure it helped.

I didn't really notice, I was just happy it was working :D

Gonna have to mess with it some more, I think. Still, it's free and I have the high-def a/v pack for the xbox so the audio is pumped into my stereo over a optical cable.

Yep, using optical out of the XBOX here, too. I can easily compensate for any channel number, obviously...except Sirius Hits 1. There IS no channel "0" to click on. Maybe I'll fiddle with the code and find where he went 1 off. I sent him a message, and he may fix it before I even get there.

Add this to my XBMCsirius wishlist: song/artist text.

Hehe, I just did the same thing! ;)

went digging, didn't find anything in the code that was real obvious, so I sent him an email....

EDIT: Also looks like there's far less lag now....playing the same song as itsonsirius reports.

Hey this is Mike, I put together this Sirius script. I'll try fixing bugs as I can, but right now I don't actually have Sirius. :\ I'm getting Sirius installed on my new car when it gets here in a couple weeks, and I wanted to make sure it would work on my Xbox so I wouldn't have to buy a second unit to listen inside.

About the caching - go into your settings and make sure that the "Unknown Type Cache - Internet" cache is set to 0 or 256K. I think this is set to 4096 by default, which is an awful lot of cache for such a low bitrate stream. Needless to say, at 4096 it'll take a while to fill up.

I'll check into the missing channels - I'm just parsing the HTML from the online player to get the channel listings, so maybe I made a mistake in how I read them.

I don't think that song/artist text will be too hard, but like I said, I don't have Sirius yet, so it makes hacking a bit tough.

Hi Mike....I found that I was using a relatively old version of XBMC and it didn't have that setting...went out and found the 5/30/05 release which DOES have the "Unknown Type Cache - Internet" cache setting. Made the change and it definitely made the wait a bit shorter.

So a tip for those who may try to set the cache and not find it....update to a newer version. Lots of other benefits as well regarding playback of files like FLAC. My old version was real picky about which ones it liked...new version plays them all.

I've posted an updated version that should fix the one-off channel bug. Thanks for pointing that out.

thanks for the quick fix, Mike! testing it out now...

EDIT: Working great...channel numbers seem right on, lowering the cache amount is speeding things up too!

Care to "point me in the right direction" of the latest XBMC? I can take it from there, but it's been a while since I installed it...

shinner: i sent you a PM..

Once again, THANKS! This is quickly becoming one of my favorite scripts for XBMC, and one I've wished for for quite a while.

Mike,

You don't have any missing channels. For the most part, they are not available on the online streams. Some recent additions to the online programming line-up have been made, but this FAQ is still pretty accurate.

easiest place is probably the xbins channel on IRC....it's also usually posted in the xbox binary groups on usenet too.

I don't know about that, Ryan...I wanted to listen to #99 on Saturday and couldn't find it in Mike's list, but I could listen to it online using the Siriusly player.

If you use bittorrent, I always get new builds of xbmc from either of these two sites:

http://xbox.udp.at/
http://www.torrentspy.com/

Note that you might want to keep a good version of xbmc on your hard drive until you thoroughly test out new versions - these are all builds from CVS, and sometimes you'll find a horrible bug in an obscure place and want to go back to your old version.

I'll look into #99 after work, but if anyone else has more info that'd be helpful.

I got the 5-30-05 release of XBMC off xbins this morning...gonna be a long day at work before I can get it loaded onto my Xbox at home.

EDIT: got it working, along with XBMCsirius 0.3. Nice job! Works beautifully!

I posted a new version this evening that shows the current song playing (unfortunately, it's about 30-60 seconds early), and also has a smarter UI that knows the difference between HDTVs and regular tvs.

Enjoy, and let me know if anyone has any problems.

Nice! Artist/Title worked great on hair nation and octane....no good on raw dog or maxim, but that's to be expected.

Mike-

Just found out about this program. I'm finally getting around to permanently wiring my box up the network within the next week. Can't wait to give it a test run!
