I gotta tell ya, I'm going to be pretty bummed if his show is on a talk feed. The sound quality is really really poor on the talk stations. There are a lot of people that are going to come online with Sirius at the beginning of Jan. just to hear Stern. They are not going to be happy with the way the show sounds if he's on one of the talk stations.

Howard often times has big name music acts in the studio, not too sure the AM radio quality talk station feed is going to go over very well when it comes to music groups doing songs live on the show. Hell, as much as I like Sirius, even the music channels don't sound as good as FM radio. The highs and mids are muddy, the quality hit from the compression they use is very noticable. The shit is going to hit the fan for a lot of people if the sound quality of the Stern show takes a 20 year step back in technology.

At the very least, if he does wind up on a talk station, I hope Sirius increases the bitrate for Stern's station. It's really going to hinder my enjoyment of the show if it sounds like a 24kb MP3 played over a walkie-talkie into a tin can full of rocks and pebbles.

Why are you complaining before the channel is up and running? Do you really think Sirius is going to have two of the same channel, east coast and west coast feeds, and the sound quality be poor. Sirius had A LOT riding on Howard's channels and I assume they'll do it right.

Howard is NOT an idiot. I guarantee you that he'll have a HQ stream. No way he'd stand for anything less. I'm sure it's not even a question for Sirius in the first place. You don't sign a guy for that much and basically hand your future over to him then stick him with a crappy stream.

I would bet he would get a high quality stream too.... Theres no way there gona put him on a crapy sounding station after spending all this money for him and his show.... I would bet 10 thousand dollars that he will have the same quality as maxim or music shows. If maxim gets a high quality channel, then howard will too!

Well, thanks for chiming in everyone. Good to hear you all think he'll be on a high quality stream, you just never know with him.

I know it seems stupid to think he'd let something like that slide, but his show has been plagued with technical mistakes and difficulties the entire time he's been on the air... just needed a little reassurance.
