Radio insiders (and outsiders) have been asking that question ever since news broke here last week that Infinity Broadcasting was negotiating to lure Muller to WCKG-FM (105.9), where he would replace the soon-to-depart Howard Stern in mornings.
While Stern's contract with Infinity runs through the end of the year (after which he moves to Sirius Satellite Radio), sources at Emmis and Infinity have said they'd prefer to have all their stars aligned by the start of Arbitron's fall ratings period on Sept. 22.

If all goes as planned -- and that's a fairly big "if" -- Sept. 22 could be a monumental day for Chicago radio and for at least two of the market's all-time biggest morning stars.
Negotiations are under way at the highest levels of Infinity Broadcasting and Emmis Communications to move Mancow Muller from Emmis' alternative WKQX-FM (101.1) to Infinity's talk WCKG-FM (105.9), where he would replace Howard Stern.
