Howard SternCome here to discuss anything about his show or his two channels. Please Note: You must request access to post in the Howard Stern Forum. Read more here.
First of all, I've found some really great information in these forums... thanks so much to all of you that have answered some of my questions already without me having to post new threads.
Second, I was under the impression that only the music channels stream online via the internet site. I called Customer Service to ask, they told me that the entertainment channels (of which Howard Stern 100 would be considered one) would not in feact stream -- but I've seen several posts here that claim Howard 100 will in fact stream.
My understanding is that only content created by Sirius can be streamed online. So that's why we have all of the music channels plus only some of the talk channels (i.e., Sirius Stars) streaming. But there is a lot of debate on what they'll end up doing with Howards channels. I hope they'll come through so I can listen to more than the 25 minutes it takes me to get to work.
Howard Stern show simulcast on what Internet/online channel?
I can't remeber, but I read a post last week here that said they were playing the Howard stern show on the Internet on some channel not labeled as his - but was playing it none the less.
What was it?
I only see, on the Internt under LIVE TALK channels: 143 - 147 - 148 - was it on one of them?
I want to listen to the Double A Interview and Scores show tonight and I signed up for the free 7 day pass to check it all out.
Wil I be able to get it on some online Internet channel tonight?

It was streaming this morning on the Live Talk -> Sirius Left -> Lynn Samuels channel. Not sure if the Scores party will be streamed though. It does seem like they take a break in the action every here and there so I'm not sure if that will be coming through.

thanks, I found the Howard news right now. I know that post I read last week said that they played the Wendy the Retard bit on the online/Internet station, so maybe they will transmit the rest of this weeks shows on the online/Internet content.

I've got my fingers crossed that this means they are intending to stream Howards channels when they oficially go live in January. That would be GREAT news, but I know better than to read anything into this...
howard will not be streamed online....your online service is a extra that comes with the service.sirius would never increase its subscriber count by streaming stern online.even after all the changes of making user id/password different now then account management, people would still give that information out to people who dont pay for service.u need to get a receiver unfor to listen to howard point blank.they are in a buisness to make money just like anyone else.

This is horrible.
I listen everyday on a pocket FM radio with one ear bud running on batteries.
As far as i can tell there aren't any pocketable receivers you can carry on your person and simply plug some earphones into.
I see the ads for the new S50 but it looks like it wont catch live radio unless you dock it.
So i figure "hey i can buy a PDA/Phone with a net connection and just stream stern online"... Thank you. Thank you very much for stepping all on this idea and any chance of catching my Stern show live.
Looks like my best chance is to by the S50 when it comes out and listen to the show a day late
With a lack of a live portable... believe me, you won't be alone with listening this way. This is, of course, if Stern is not going to be streamed online. No one knows yet.
Is the S50 really the answer? I would have to leave it home in the recording cradle 4 days a week to record the shows, and then listen to them off hours? So during my morning commute, I would need a 2nd PnP/sub because my S50 is recording at home?
They MUST put Howard online. I am in the car for 45 minutes in the morning. If there was ever a need for a letter writing campaign, this is it.
It seems like a bad business move to NOT stream Howard online. If they brought Howard to Sirius to increase the numbers of subscribers, then having him online will only help that effort.
Not only would it be a great way to get new listeners.........."humm, I wonder what Howard's show is like now that he doesn't have to worry about the FCC? Let me sign up for a free 3 day pass.............Wow! this is fantastic, I'm signing up now!", but it would be a great way for them to keep current subscibers like me happy.
I've got nothing but good things to say about Sirius and I hype it to anyone who asks or is remotely interested, but not being able to get the show online would certainly sour my feelings on the whole station and would start the bad (word of mouth) press.
No live portable is god awful. How hard can it be to make one?
I was under the impression that the XM roady was a live portable... maybe it was a creatively worded commercial, i don't know i never paid any attention to XM.
I still think a PDA/Smart phone with a net connection will be the only way to get stern live. Doesen't Sprint have some phones that pick up Sirius music stations live?
If they are worried about people stealing/sharing an account just give each subscriber an online password that can only be used by one user at a time. Who would share their account if it means they can potentially be locked out by a friend listening at the same time?
