Well, I'm not from "the first state," but I did attend the University of Delaware for a semester when I was doing my graduate studies. However, most of my memories of Newark were from the inside of Klondike Kate's!
Beautiful state, and much of it is like a "green island" in the middle of a very urban and industrialized part of our nation.
Also a great state in which to incorporate a company, as many in the Fortune500 have!
I have been through Delaware several times, seems like a nice place. I can't believe we don't have one person from the First State checking in.

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill. That we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.
Well since no one is piping up... We visit Delaware a couple of times a year. We take the Cape May-Lewes Ferry to Lewes Delaware, which is a nice ride from New Jersey to Delaware and then usually hit the outlet stores in Rohoboth. Occasionally we stay overnight oceanside in Rohoboth Beach. Then there's always Mike's Famous H-D! No sales tax in Delaware either! Beautiful state and always a fun time!!

I'm not in Delaware either now, but I lived there for 4 years when I went to the University of Delaware from 1991 to 1995. And Klondike Kate's was one of the best places to hang out there. So was the Deer Park bar! I haven't been back to the campus in 10 years, I can only imagine how much it has changed...
Damn. I'm quite embarrased about these Delaware responses. One might think we didn't have the internet let alone Satellite radio based on the lack of responses here.
Though Delaware is a "drive-through" state - 30 minutes from Philly and an hour from Baltimore, with DC and NYC not too much further - the state itself is a great place to live.
Many great beaches, tax-free shopping, numerous large corporations...
For those who've spent time at Kate's, I'm sure you've stumbled down to the Deer Park a time or two. I waited tables there while in school and had the time of my life. The Deer Park used to be the kind of place you'd "escape." Townies, bikers, some college kids...dirty but great.
The worst thing about Delaware - it's next to Jersey
I visited Delaware to be a witness in a Patent Infringement case. The Court system there works like clockwork! That's the limit of my experience in Deleware.
