Default Firmware Update

1. They should change the way the "My Sirius Channels" work; I say to create a My Sirius Channel, you should just hold down the "Love" button for a couple seconds, and then the channel you are listening to will become a My Sirius Channel and begin recording whatever plays. Then, the next time you have that channel playing and hold down the "Love" button, it should give you the option of replacing what was already recorded on that channel, or simply add to it.

That's actually all I can think of at this moment.
I think that would totally change the intended purpose of the "LOVE" Button.... But I do agree some changes need to be made.

1. Change it so that we can record content directly from music channels.

2. Change it so that it will resume play where it left on when listening to previously recorded content.

3. Alarm Clock, we need one, I use this to get up each day.

We also need it explained exactly how the "My SIRIUS Channel" work in terms of recording.

What else guys?

That's why I suggested that you would hold the button down for a few seconds; just pressing it would still save a song, but holding it down would start recording. They could of course use any button to do the recording function. I just think it would be better if storing the My Sirius Channels were done manually, not just automatically.

I have 2 to add...

Should allow listening to recorded content while recording live content.

Change 2 hour scheduled recording limit at a time back to 4 hours.

Default myChannels question

Hello all,
My s50 seems to e working like a champ, I have about 3 hours recorded on 3 different channels. Question: If I "love" a song that I am playing back from my Channel and the song saves in a folder, what happens to the song when the myChannel is deleted? Does the song still remain?

thanks,

Jan

I see what you are saying now. Yeah that would be cool, I could go for that too. Interesting.. Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't think this is technically possible. If you are using it to listen to recorded content, then I don't see how it could possible also be recording live content at the same time. It would indeed be nice though. That would be very TIVO'ish.

Hi Jan, glad your S50 is working for you. If you "LOVE" a song that is part of your recorded content, it then moves it to your My Sirius Song Playlist. If you delete that My Sirius Channel, it does not impact your My Sirius Song Playlist. These are all separated on the S50's 1 GIG memory.

Another note, when you "LOVE" a song from previously recorded content it is no longer available in that channels content anymore.

When I LOVE a song from MY CHANNEL, the song is moved from MY CHANNEL and now appears in MY SONGS.

If you recorded a few hours of music from three different channels and "LOVED" all of them into MY SONGS, would that be a way of retaining the music so that it is not deleted until you choose to delete it?

And if you did so, would you be able to separate them into different areas/folders therefore mimicing your 3 MY PLAYLISTS?, or would they become all "bunched" together?

I just LOVED Steppenwolf's "The Pusher" from the Vault. Worth every darn penney I paid for this S50.

One thing I would like better on the S50 is to be able to set game alerts separately from Favorite Teams. I like the Sports Ticker, but don't like ALL the Game Alerts. I know I can go to My Game Zone for scores, but I'm lazy and like the scrolling scores on the display.

My #1 firmware update wish is to have both song and artist alerts added. I know we have the love feature, but it doesn't help when a song/artist is playing on another channel.

Oh, #2 would be having a "resume" feature. Nothing more frustrating that having to fast forward back to where you were listening ever time you power off/on the unit.

Yes tunes in the My Sirius Song's Playlist are there until you delete them.

There is no way to move them into folders, this is a dedicated area for songs that you "LOVE" I assume this space has a limit, but I don't know what it is, perhaps someone else knows. I've have a dozen or so songs in mine.

You did do the Default Reset?
Yes on the default reset.

I only had (2) MyChannels when it deleted one of them (My Octane).

There doesn't appear to be any set rules to the MyChannel deletions, because as of right now, I have (3) MyChannels: Raw Dog, 1st Wave, Alt Nation.
I would assume that if I were to tune into Octane right now, it would delete the oldest MyChannel (1st Wave) and replace it with My Octane.

I would really like a way to save the MyChannel content (maybe an archive feature?) before it is overtaken with another newer MyChannel.
Either that or increase the MyChannel limit to 10 or so. That would give each MyChannel, on average about 5 hours each, which would work great for me.

Agreed.

However, I thought one of the key selling features of the S50 was that it could hold up to 50 hours of content...which would be slightly more than 16 hours of 3 channels (assuming no other scheduled content recording).

(1) Why would content start deleting if the divice has not filled up?

Personally, I bought this device for home and portable use. I listen to certain content at home, and when out exercising want to listen to entirely different (more upbeat) content. It sounds like if I listen to too many different stations it will continually dump my preferred "MY PLAYLIST" channels and record whatever I happen to be listening to at home that particular day as I have the device on all day long.

(2) By the way, does anybody know for a FACT that we will be allowed to record Howard Stern content? It seems that there are so many restrictions to this device that questioning the ability to record Howard is not such a far-fetched question...

Here's a good one. Certain headphones won't fit into the headphone slot. My Grado's won't fit. But luckily my Shure's just barely fit.
