While I find the packaged ones provide decent sound, I ordered some Shure E3C's for $129 at eCost.com. I was wondering if anyone else had tried these with the S50. From reading the other threads I saw that many people reported it being a very tight fit. The stock ones fit really tight as well.
I checked those headphones you ordered...pretty kick ass.I might get myself a pair.
I signed up for the platinum membership for 99 cents trial just to get the headphones for $129. I've purchased many things through eCost over the years with good results. Sometimes they are good prices and sometimes they aren't. The Sure headphones are dangerous in a way. You absolutely can't hear any outside noise as they fit so good in the ear. When traveling a coworker was clapping his hands loudly behind me when I tried a pair out. I didn't hear him at all.
I don't expect everyone to just run out and get these, but I use the Bose QuietComfort 2 headphones and they are beyond amazing when paired with the S50. It can actually get too loud, which is hard for portables to accomplish.

The Bose are absolutely amazing. I don't normally endorse Bose because their products are generally mediocre. Their marketing however has alot of people fooled into thinking they are the best. Their Quiet Comfort 2's are the pinacle for Noise Cancelling headphones.
I use the Shure's with the s50. They work well although a little tight, but not a big deal. I think that the Shure e3's have been the best purchase I've made in the past few years. I highly recommend them. You won't get to really appreciate their great sound with the low quality Sirius broadcasts though. You need an uncompressed sound source to get the most out of them.

Will the Shure e3s stay snug in the ear while jogging?
Also, just how low quality is the Sirius S50 sound (in portable mode)? Is it on par with an Ipod (or similar device)?
The S50 has fantastic sound quality. I was very impressed and that's pretty hard. I'm a Home Theater audiophile. I have around $10,000 in Home theater equiptment and I'm pretty anal when it comes to sound. However, the sound is only as good as it's weekest link. That link is either a poor quality mp3 or wma file or the earphones that come with the S50. Shure makes professional headsets and their small earpieces are nothing short of amazing for what they are.
I don't see why they wouldn't....shure makes a pretty decent set of headphones.....myself....i prefer cans over buds......i use a set of Sennheiser 550's. they are big and cozy....about $120 give or take.....the sound on them is amazing....i really like sennheiser phones.
Senheiser makes great phones. I also prefer the larger phones as you can beat physics. Bigger is usually better. For portability however, they can be cumbersum to many. I'm not sure the answer to you question as I don't have them in my hands (or ears) until this evening. From what I've read on different headphone forums, people say they fit very snug and are very comfortable for extended periods. Shure provides many different fittings and fitting materials with there headphones for optimum comfort.
OK - after reading all responses in this thread I have read up on the Shure: both he e3c and e4c. Just wondering if anyone feels that the e4c is overkill for the S50 (I understand that the e4c is slightly better than the e3c and brings out more bass). If anyone has experience with both of these - I would love to know how they compare with one another.
