Default Why not buy an AC/DC Converter instead of a home dock s50?

An AC/DC converter is like 10 bucks and then you can just hook it up to the FM station on your stereo. Why the need to fork out 100 bucks on a home dock for the s50?

I donno? Would you have to take the whole car cradle out each time you want to use it in the house?

There're a lot of smart people here. Someone will come along that can help you better.

If you do alot of scheduled recordings then I would get the home kit. The home kit will automatically wake up (turn on) to record what you schedule.

If you are just using the car kit with an AC/DC convertor you would have to leave the S50 on for the recording to happen.

It would be a pain in the *ss to take out the car docking kit (especially if you have it nicely installed) everytime you leave your car and want to take it home with you.

The home dock is the only way to go using it at home. No way I am lugging that auto dock in and out of my vehicle everyday. (Just the short while I had to do this taught me that was not acceptable.) Not to mention you could never really install it properly in your vehicle, because of needing to remove it. There are many solutions to FM Transmitting from the home dock, so that is a non-issue as far as I am concerned. Most use their home docks directly connected anyway. I have also found for scheduled recording the home dock is so much easier and more stable to boot.

What DAB said. I considered going the car dock route (especially when I couldn't find a home dock for a while), but once I saw/used the home dock it became a moot debate. Much easier, sleeker, more functional, better sound quality...pretty good reasons for me.

Why not put the home dock in the car and the car dock at home?

Buy 2 ---one for your car and one for your home. I use a
ac to dc power with a tin can for the antenna ground.
IT WORKS..........cost is less than 10 bucks.

Default Radio Shack adapter for S50 car kit

You can plug the provided cigarette lighter adapter into this: http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...tId=2102505&cp

The way I've been using the S50 so far is I have it record favorite stations at night and then I play the recordings in my car during the day. I find Sirius' music programming a bit inconsistent and I usually want to skip every fourth song anyway, so the S50 is better than listening live!

So I have no reason for the docking kit in the car (at least for now) and just plug the mobile part of the S50 into an AUX input on the car's stereo.

If that is a question, the answer is NO You'll have to plug the USB cable into the media player directly.

fwiw -- Two of my local radio shacks were sold out of the recommended ac to dc power converter. I found one at best buy in the cell phone accesories section. I can't find it online, but it cost $19.
