Default S50 Home Dock

Shouldn't they have at least made enough home docks available before releasing this thing?

Of course, you can get one on Ebay...for about $350.00.

I agree to an extent. This is different, this is like Microsoft putting out the Xbox 360 without controllers and not having enough controllers to supply even half of the Xbox 360's sold. It is one thing to make a limited amount of a product and a totally different thing to only supply enough of the "needed" accessory to fulfill less than half of the product. I love Sirius and I understand that it is not entirely their fault (although they could have prevented this) but if I had known how hard the home dock was going to be to get I would have delayed my purchase of the S50. While the S50 is great without it, this is causing not only me, but many many people a lot of headaches.

You know, I may actually pass on the home kit now.. I really love the fact that I can get Sirius on all my FM radios in the house.. I have my S50 upstairs in a bedroom.. When I'm downstairs making something to eat, or reading the paper, I just flip on the "OLD" radio and boom, I have Sirius.. I just really wanted the wake up feature the home kit has.. Now I have to decide what feature I want more..

What wake-up feature does the home kit have?

From my understanding, The home kit will allow you to set the unit to record a show and turn it off, the unit will then turn on, or wake up by itself to record it. The auto dock cannot do this. It can record, but has to be left on, or turned on before the show you want recorded

So if I want to record Howard at 6am.. With the home dock, I set the time to 6am, then turn off the unit. At 6am, it will turn on, and record.. With the auto dock, I'd either have to get up and turn on the S50 myself and record, or, leave it on all night..

Just don't get too excited about this feature working all the time (in other words, prepare to wake up at 6 when your S50 is supposed to, to check it every day).

Just when I think the Sirius reps here are right that I've been too harsh on this producat - after I've gotten a couple days of back to back recordings from 6-12 am perfectly - my radio locks up again at 6 when it's supposed to start recording, necessitating another battery removal to get it working.

But don't worry, I'll be the first to (happily) report back here if the next one I get from Best Buy records properly.

I have to start messing with the record feature to be ready for the 9th. I keep putting it off and I'm afraid I won't get it right for the first show.
