Taylor Swift visits Big Zak
Wed 6/7 11:00 am ET
Yes, we know you’ve never heard of her, that’s why we want to be the first to introduce you to Taylor Swift. She’s 16: she sings, writes songs and could be the next big thing in country music. Music City insiders are buzzing about Taylor’s talent: wanna find out what all the excitement is about? Be the first to hear Taylor’s new music as well as some exclusive performances in our Music Row studios for a CMA Music Festival warm-up on Wednesday morning with Big Zak.

Daily Back Stage Coverage from the Coliseum
6/8 - 6/12
Al Skop, Corey Duke and Big Zak will be bringing you the highlights from the big stars playing the nightly shows at Nashville’s Coliseum June 8th through June 11th. Hear the biggest acts in country music tell you about their CMA Music Festival experience as they prepare to take the biggest stage of them all during Fan Fair Week. Plus, you'll get nightly updates with Al Skop and morning re-caps with Big Zak throughout the event.

Trent Willmon from the Inner Sanctum
Thurs 6/8 11:00 am ET
SIRIUS has been invited to the Sony-BMG building in Nashville for a private and intimate chat with Trent Willmon. Having the chance to sit down with one of country music’s brightest new stars, at one of the most influential record labels in the history of country music is the kind of thing we know you’ll love. Big Zak will preview some of Trent’s new songs on his latest album, A Little More Livin’, before it hits stores on June 13th and talk with Trent about the songs from his debut that put him on the country music map.

Meet The Wreckers
Thurs 6/8 7:00 pm ET
GRAMMY® Award-winner Michelle Branch has teamed up with her pal Jessica Harp to form the country music duo The Wreckers. Al Skop chats with the ladies about their debut album, country music, relationships and how they formed their group -- which country music fans are calling the best new female country duo in a decade.

SHeDAISY at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville
Thurs 6/8 9:00 pm ET
Just before SHeDAISY released their latest album, Fortuneteller’s Melody, they gathered in Nashville at the legendary Ocean Way Studios to bring us an amazing set of their big hits and brand new music. This special performance was captured exclusively for SIRIUS listeners and we’re very happy to deliver it in it’s entirety once again for all of our new subscribers as part of CMA Music Festival week.

Triple ACM Award Winner Brad Paisley
Fri 6/9 7:00 pm ET
At this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards, Brad took home awards for Album of the Year for Time Well Wasted, as well as Vocal Event of the Year and Video of the Year nods for the moving song "When I Get Where I'm Going." His new music will be featured in the upcoming animated film, Cars, his latest album is white hot and his summer tour canvasses the country. And you think you’re busy! Brad squeezed in some time for SIRIUS to visit with Al Skop as part of our CMA Music Festival "Fan Fair" week coverage.

Jack Ingram at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville
Fri 6/9 9:00 pm ET
Whether you’re reliving this amazing performance Jack Ingram gave us on the SIRIUS New Country Soundstage back at the beginning of the year, or hearing it for the first time, it is truly one of the standout moments in our broadcast history. Recorded before his first #1 hit in front of a live audience at one of Nashville’s most acoustically pure recording studios.

The Phil Vassar Story
Sat 6/10 10:00 am ET
Big Zak hosts an hour of Phil Vassar’s greatest songs – you might not have known that he wrote all of them, as most of them have been hits for other artists. Phil sings his own versions of hits made famous by Tim McGraw, Collin Raye, and Jo Dee Messina. It's a true insider’s look at the performer, the songwriter and the music of Phil Vassar.

This is the channel I'm most looking forward to listening to. Yesterday was my first whole year with Sirius, and I have yet to listen to any of the Country Channels...

I'll be taking a little time off this week-next weekend, driving down to D/FW to visit family. As long as my girlfriend can stand it, I'll be listening to New Country most of the way...

This post about the Dixie Chicks was removed to accomodate a request by the Moderator.
Be careful out there.

this is probably the channel I'm looking forward to least this week as I just don't get the whole "country" scene, especially new country. I'll definatly be more excited about country music when we get to OUTLAW.

It would be sooooo nice to have ONE ONE ONE ONE ONE topic that doesn't get politicized. PLEASE!!!!!!

I understand what you're saying but I think it's a valid point in the context of evaluating the channel. There are plenty of terrestrial "new country" stations in my market that won't play the Dixie Chicks. So if New Country IS playing them, that'd make me more likely to tune in.

I'll listen then but I won't contribute to the thread if it is going to be hijacked into politics.

Keep the politic banter to the political asylum. This is about the music, not about an artists or your own political belief.

I enjoy this channel (it is one of my presets), even though country music is not at the top of my list. Theoretically, country music is most popular out in the "red" states, and not so much here on the coasts. The stereotype is that "real men" listen to country music (those with the pick ups and guns). But the ironic thing is, if you listen to the music on this channel, the new country songs typically have very sensitive themes - how much the singer loves his wife, kids, God, and the USA, or how sad it is that a loved one is dying. Hip-hop would never get away with sensitive themes like this. Rock used to, but not today. Country music is the most likely to get you all emotional by listening to it. I don't think that's as true with classic country music - it's more so recently.

I can't believe I'm actually kind of enjoying this channel...

This channel is my #1 preset, and was one of the reasons I got Sirius. We don't have a country channel in the NY area anymore. They do a real good job. I liked Jim Kerr better in the mornings (its a NY thing). A lot of today's country has an adult contemporary feel to it...and that's OK. I'd love it if they picked up some jingles...the "witty" liners can sometmes get tiring.

since I'm not fond of country music, I gave it a whirl anyway. some of the songs are ok; Jodee Messina has a good voice.

so far I'm about 30% acceptable.
