Named for the date they became a group - the 21st of January 2003 - Detroit trio 21:03 premiered late last year and are creating a huge buzz in the gospel world. Gospel has a storied tradition of groups but this trio is not strictly speaking 'traditional'. Their debut album, PAJAM Presents 21:03, features some vocals by the hit making gospel star, producer/vocalist J. Moss. With inspirational lyrics, harmonies over urban and hip-hop influenced beats, they represent the direction popular gospel is heading in.
Praise is a fun station. Spirit is where I spend most of time on the Christian station, but I'll tune into Revolution as well as Praise from time to time. I enjoy most of the music on this channel and I will be back from time to time.
I have a lot of respect for this channel. I spent a lot of time listening to Revolution when I was cleaning my house this weekend, so I look forward to a similar, but mellower message. WTD never fails to find new stations for me to listen to. That's the point, right?
I dont see myself trying this one out. Dont like others pushing their beliefs on me so I wont listen to the music. Doesn't mean that stuff on here wouldnt sound good to me though. Just dont like this genre.
Cool station. I spend most of my time in this genre at Sprit and Revolution, but am glad to have been exposed to the gospel side of the house. Very upbeat and positive!
I haven't listened to ANY Christian music before. We do have a small AM christian radio station where I live and I have flicked over to it a couple of times before and the type of music they play is BAD. Maybe its just the sound/production quailty. It horrible and I can't stomach it for more than 3 mintues.
Of course, i gave this one a try for WTD. I listened for a couple of hours yesterday at work, and for a couple more hours last night at home (and when I was going to sleep). I was surprised. MUCH different than what I expected. Not what I considered "Christian" music to be. Some decent songs and I found it to be enjoyable background music. Still not my choice of music, and i probably wouldn't make it a preset, but i didn't mind listening to it, and I can see me listening to it from time to time. I will tune in for a couple of more blocks before this week of WTD is over.
I am curious to listen to the other stations in this genre to see what the difference is between this format.
This channel has been hit or miss for me. Some songs I liked, and others I really didn't care for. I tend to like the more melodic songs, not the chanting-type songs with little music going on in the background. The best part for me, I guess, was the gospel-style singing.
Okay, but not a preset for me.
Praise is good. But it's not really the type of music I'll normally want to listen to. The one day of the year that I tune into this channel is Easter. That's the one day when it helps to hear some good uplifting songs about Jesus.
Other channels with good gospel shows include the Elvis channel every Sunday morning at 8 (eastern), which is actually pretty good, and the bluegrass channel Sundays at 9 (eastern), which I haven't heard yet.
i was surprised with some of the music that they played here. some songs had a hip hop feel to them so i enjoyed those. but that isnt enough as the other songs have the gospel type music and i wasnt into that to much. i could listen to this station from time to time but it didnt get a preset from me.
I liked it alot, actually. I have always enjoyed the traditionally black gospel music. It's such a change from what you hear in my mainline protestant European based church where you kind of slog through a hymn and half the people don't bother to sing. This was very spiritual and uplifting.
Went to the Gospel Brunch at House of Blues in Chicago last year, and heard this style of music live. It was fantastic. Might just make Praise mandatory Sunday listening.
I've been trying to play 'ketchup' on WTD lately, so today was Praise.
I've been felling down in the dumps lately. The music on this channel made me feel so much better. The Gospel Music they play is uplifting and enjoyable...
I've been listening to Spirit off and on since they added it, but I have to say that Praise is a lot better. I've replaced Spirit with Praise. Since they are so close to each other, when the mood hits, I'll start with Praise, and then go to Spirit.
Psalms 98:4 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise...
