The Great American Songbook as sung - and swung - by the classic artists of our time. The perfect mix of yesterday's giants like Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr. and Dean Martin with today's coolest singers including Diana Krall, Harry Connick, Jr., and Michael Buble. When you're ready to swing, enjoy the big band sounds of Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey that keep this joint jumpin'!
You'll hear timeless favorites like: "It Had To Be You", "As Time Goes By", "In The Mood", "Beyond The Sea," "Over The Rainbow", "Take The 'A' Train", "Volare" and "Fly Me To The Moon".
Swingers Delight Saturday 8 pm - 11 pm ET
The joint is jumpin' with three solid hours of the greatest big bands and singers of the swing era featuring Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Glenn Miller, Fats Waller and Tommy Dorsey.
This is not my type of music, but my parents love enjoying this music, when they are around my radio. But after a while some of the music has got to me and I do enjoy several of the songs and artist on this channel.
The music is before my time, but I've grown to like it as my musical tastes slowly spread from straight pop rock to blues, to jazz and now swing and standards. This is one of my programed favorites.
I have grown to enjoy this music as well. I especially like Jeff Spurgeon who handles the announcing chores during the day. He has a dry wit that is rather entertaining (he also does mid-days at 96.3 WQXR New York - The Classical Station). Of course, I like the jingle.
My only complaint is that I don't necessarily care for the Swing cuts. I prefered when Swing had its own stream...but from a bandwidth standpoint, I can understand why the two were combined.

Looking for help on Sirius/XM??
I'm a huge Rat Pack fan so I have this as a preset. I'll listen to Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, and a few others as well. I usually wait for my artist alert to kick in to go to this channel however. It's in my A presets which is the one I use for my son so it gets listened to a fair amount when I'm watching him. The version of "Beyond The Sea" that was used in Finding Nemo is played on this channel too which I really like.
I gave this channel a ride for the first time yesterday. I LOVED it. Again, I knew I would, as I love this genre. Like a couple of more that posted, this music is WAY before my time (i grew up in the 80s/90s) but about 10 years ago, i got into the Rat Pack, and now I really like Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy, etc. My father was always a big Nat King Cole fan, and others such as Bobby Vinton, Bobby Darin, Gene Pitney an Sam Cooke. I grew up with this music on in the background and really appreciate it now.
Plus, now I like Diana Krall and Michael Buble now too! I found this to be the perfect background music station and had it on for the entire day. It even got me to tap a short nap before I went out!
Likewise, I am not so much into the swing, but hopefully by being more exposed to this music, i will appreciate it more.
Ever since I got Sirius, one of my goals has always been to really get into the Standards. And after a little while, I always end up back in classic rock / 1980's. So, I'm glad we're walking the dog to Standard Time.
I'm more familiar with the songs than I had realized. I also do not like Swing as much as the rest of the songs.
My favorite thing about the Standards is the beat. I like the rhythm section on most songs -- the bass and drums. Some songs get on my nerves because I find the brass section, the horns, are too strongly in the mix. But, that is a commentary on the songs, not the channel.
I'll keep Standard Time as a preset, and keep trying to find more time to listen to it.
This was pretty much exactly what I expected it to be. Just on the hour's drive to work I heard Tony Bennett, Frank, Sammy, Peggy Lee, and Rosemary Clooney. I didn't care for the Big Band stuff, but overall I liked it. Wouldn't listen to it all the time, or set a preset, but a good change of pace.
Heard Brian Setzer's "Route 66" (good) and Michael Bolton's "That's Life" (not so good), I like how they play modern takes on the standards.
I gave it a try. I heard Peggy Lee, Bette Midler, Sammy Davis Jr., and several other singers who are of that ilk. I can't see spending any time listening to this station giiven the other options available.
Since I am much older than most of you, I grew up with this music and have grown to like it. The artists all have just great voices and the music is full. You do not hear this much nowadays. Somewhere I would like to be able to find the artists of “Classical Voices” singing to some popular stuff.
I like this channel whenever I tune to it. I had it as a preset for a while, but I just didn't tune to it that often. I don't think I have room to add it as a preset again. But I'll manually punch in the channel from time to time.
I actually like that they merged the standards and the swing channels. It sounds like a more complete mix of music. This is a case where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts, in my opinion. But I can see if you're a fan of only one of those styles of music, you disagree.
