Jim Ryan Weekdays 7 am – 12 pm ET
Jim got into radio because of a strong aversion to “digging ditches or wearing suits and ties.” And it's worked out well...Jim can tell you about the time Alanis Morissette rushed him out of a backstage bathroom, and when he hung with Matchbox 20 on their tour bus. Away from SIRIUS, Jim's focused on his boat.
Kim Ashley Daily 12 pm – 6 pm ET
Kim has always had an interest in music and entertainment, from the moment she attended her very first concert (Billy Joel) to interviewing some of her favorite artists (Sheryl Crow, Rob Thomas, Alanis Morissette, Duran Duran, Hootie and the Blowfish) for The Pulse on SIRIUS.
Karen Carson Daily 6 pm – 12 am ET
Karen loves working at working at SIRIUS because of all of the different faces in the building--from fellow D.J.'s to Howard Stern to Sheryl Crow. She also loves the freedom at SIRIUS to talk about whatever she wants! Otherwise, Karen's favorite things in life are her three year old son and twin 1 year old daughters. Kickboxing takes a close second.
Haneen Hosts The Pulse Music News at half past every hour--give or take a minute.
For Haneen, the best part of her job getting to speak directly with the artists she admires--some of her favorite interviews have been with Pat Benatar, Liz Phair, and the late jazz great Joe Henderson. When she's not at SIRIUS, Haneen thinks about her next vacation. Last year, made it to Ireland, Tunisia, Canada, and Austin, TX.
I enjoy The Pulse, I have as one of my top presets. Of coarse alot of people around here do agree it should be pure 90's station and take out of the today's music. But I still enjoy the 90's and today!
It's a preset, and I tune to it in the car more then at home, or when my girlfriend is around. It plays a nice mix and lately has been improving. I've been listening more lately, thats for sure.
Well, it started inauspiciously with "Mmmmmm...Bop" by Hanson. After an hour, it got to Nick Lachey and I turned it off.
In between, it was OK. If this was a commercial station I think it would have either the word "KISS" or "LITE" in its name. I didn't listen to those stations before Sirius, and I probably won't listen to The Pulse much, either.
I had 3 "thumbs downs" this week, maybe I am just grouchy today.
Actually, it would probably be called MIX. In any event, they do a good job on The Pulse. It's a preset and a frequent stop for me. Some of the boy band songs are a turn off for me.

Looking for help on Sirius/XM??
I have found The Pulse to be one of my most disappointing channels on Sirius. It just irks me that they have no dedicated 90's channel. What you waiting for, Sirius? It's six years removed from that decade. It seems most of the time I tune in, they're playing something from the last 5 - 8 years. I have no interest in today's music. I keep The Pulse as a "C" preset in the event that they play something from the early 90's.
The Pulse is a pretty good "Mix" channel. About what you'd expect. I like the DJs. It's already a preset, and I tune in occasionally.
The question about an all-90s channel is a separate one, in my opinion. I wouldn't replace Pulse with an all 90s channel; it would have to supplement this one. Personally, I don't see the big need, because I don't hear much difference between pop music from the '90s and pop music from the '00s (other than the '90s had more boy bands).
Prior decades sounded much different than the preceeding decade. Music from the '60s differs from the '50s; the '70s music is easily distinguished from the '60s; the '80s varied very much from the '70s; and the '90s were pretty different than the '80s. But to my ear, I don't hear that same kind of difference between the '90s and the '00s.
The Pulse is a much better version than the radio that we have in Montreal, Quebec. Light, easy stuff geared to women and the office. I would prefer it to our Mix/Lite Rock stations, and I would be happier to wake up to it...But it still pales in comparison to the channels that I enjoy more on Sirius. As such, I never listen to it, and I didn't like the hour spent walking the dog this week. I think The Pulse suffers from "Faction syndrome" in that people are upset at Faction because they want it to be a Punk channel (which it does not attempt to be)---people want The Pulse to be a 90's channel, which it too, does not attempt to be. The Pulse is useful, but I really, really hate the type of music it plays (due to the years pre-Sirius of FM radio shoving it down my throat).
Wow - I really thought i would enjoy this channel, and I wanted to. But, after giving it some solid listening hours this past week, I can say that I didn't enjoy it. It was weird. I mean, it was fun hearing a lot of the songs that I listened to when i was in university (some great tunes, and others that just made me chuckle - Ace of Base, for example). However, on the whole, "most" of the music that I heard reminded me of driving back and forth to school, with our only FM station on, listening to a lot of these songs by artists like Dishwalla, etc, and I didn't really enjoy them at the time, and haven't since.
Don't get me wrong, there are a LOT of music from the 90s that I love (and The Pulse got me listening to them again!), but I can't listen to very much of Hootie, TLC, Goo Goo Dolls, etc. Plus, the 'now' music such as Kelly Clarkson, Jack Johnson, James Blunt, Daniel Powter, etc, I just can't stomach. Its not for me.
Therefore, I would make it a C preset, and I will check back every now and then, but I won't be listening to this station a lot. And I think i would be in favour for this station just being a 90s station too. Leave the "now" for Sirius One Hits (which i check in every now and then, just to see whats going on).
Stations like this are the reason I bought satellite radio. This music is like a chain restaurant, bland and boring.
I don't hate every single song they play, but the "mix" of these songs bores me to tears. It is designed to appeal to the cubicle crowd just waiting to be the office of the day.
I won't be back unless I need a station like this for company or something.
