I'd bet anything that we won't see even a glimpse of the new live wearables (Stiletto or Zing or whatever they're called!) until mid-September and even then on shelves by mid-October or into the holiday season.
It's really annoying that XM has 5 plus live wearables. Jeez, SIRIUS can't be that far behind in technology can they? It can't just be FCC issues.
I know "live" portable units aren't the be-all and end-all but it would still be nice to have the options.

Things take time. It doesn't matter that XM has 5 plus live wearables, Sirius is not XM. When the "Live" one is available, it will be available. It's not something worth complaining about. I would rather them take extra time and get it completely right, bug free.

I'm thinking this is more of an FCC/RIAA issue than a bug issue that is holding it up.
I think Sirius is waiting until they get more repeaters installed.. Wearable radios won't be that popular if they only work outside.. (I can already see the customer service lines being jammed with people who can't seem to get good reception in their basements )
I suspect the portables will be released once most of the the new repeaters are in place.
So close. Some news will be made later in the week about new products, as was last year. The Christmas in August press release is always around Mid August. So for the sake of argument let's just say Friday, things should be more public.
One has to GIVE Props to SIRIUS for keeping such big products so secret for so long. Some people may want SIRIUS to show a product years in advance and others may want it sold right after they release it to the press. Everyone can sense that the manner in which they approach it is different than it was last year.
The Universal Boomboxes current ETA with Directed is Aug 21.
Is it really that good of a thing to keep things secret right up until the last possible minute? Sirius will need one hell of a marketing plan to get the word out to the AVERAGE consumer.
Or is it better to release details 2-3 months in advance to build up anticipation and excitement?

Well it does matter to alot of people. There is no reason for sirius to be this far behind technology wise. Live portables would be very useful for alot of people. If we don't "complain" ie ask for live portables, why would they bother even making them. This device is way past due. Perhaps if we could get a better answer than "end of summer" or "next quarter" Maybe there wouldn't be so much specutlation aka complaining.
