StilettoStiletto...it's not just for shoes. Come here to talk about the new SL2, the SL100, or the SL10. Share tips, tricks and pointers, all available via WiFi...just like your music!
Lots of the stuff in the article is repetitive so we'll highlight the new stuff...
The Stilleto 100 will MSRP for $349 and the Stilleto 10 will retail for $249. What's the difference? The S10 will only feature 10 hours of record time and does NOT feature WiFi. Supposedly the two devices look simillar.
Just to clear something up regarding the two batteries that come with the Stilletos. The extended life battery will give you 4 hours live, 14 hours on Wifi, and 20 hours on recorded content. The smaller power battery will have half the power.
Both of the radios will NOT come with a home kit nor a car kit, they will have to be purchased extra for $69 each (both will be out in September). But, I wouldn't be surprised to see retail and online stores doing a buy the Stilleto and get a home kit and/or car kit free type of deal.
There will also be a boombox and executive docking station, both retailing for $149.
I don't know if I like the idea of the Stiletto not coming with either a car or home kit. I just have a bad taste of the S50 not having the home kits out right away (and in the same case, the Pioneer Inno not having the car kits available either.) For the Stiletto to be successful, the kits will need to come out at exactly the same time as the unit itself.

SIRIUS-Stiletto 2 w/2 GB microSD card
XM-Xpress RC/Home Kit
16 GB iPod Touch
ALL CONNECTED TO SOLOIST DOCK!
It's a bummer that you don't get either dock for $349. If you add a dock your looking at $420. Call me crazy but $70 buck sounds like alot for a dock. The $249 for the s10 sounds good, but I think they have plans for the wifi that we don't even know about yet. I'd say people that go for the s10 will end up wishing they'd have gone for the s100 down the road. It kinda sucks that you can't use all the space to save sirius content if you want. It doesn't matter anyway cause I gotta have one of these. I use sirus everyday at work, and finally having a portable will be a godsend. Do any of you TSS guys know what kinda deal you'll be offering on these? I'm definitly planning to pre order one from somewhere.
I thought Crutchfield said it had a car kit included in its $349 Stiletto?
the article had a $399.99 price including the car kit. if you call crutchfield, they are saying if you buy the radio and dock together you will get a $20 instant discount, amking it $399.99.
price of the Inno and helix is $349.99 with home kit. add headphones ($50 which you absolutely need or else you will not get reception), and an extra battery ($30) you are at $430.00.
The price of the Stiletto which comes with the headphones and extra battery at $349.99, plus the home kit ($70), brings you to $420.00
Also keep in mind the Inno and Helix were $399.99 with home kit when they were released. an extra $20 for this beast with the home kit is not asking much.
as you know the stiletto offers twice the memory, a larger screen, and WiFi.
i have an S50 for my car and home (also a sportster4). If i buy this radio it will be for portable use only. Im glad i dont have to pay for a kit ill never use.

That's where I started thinking about the SL10. I don't need that much memory and would only use this as a walkman.
I will say this. Despite loving my S50, they did a really poor job of releasing the S50 and all of it's accessories (exec. docking station 6 months after product, no home docks for months) so I do hope that they have a better stock of product before the release.
No kit iwth the player is king of crappy but whatever.
There's no way I'll buy a Stiletto until they've gotten the inevitable bugs worked out. Like its namesake, it's sharp yet, at the same time, dangerous. I love my S50, but only when it works. Since December, I'm on my FOURTH one...or will be whenever their backorders are caught up enough for them to ship it. I do hope the Stiletto hits the ground running and is a stable product because I'd love a portable unit, especially with WiFi, but I won't be sold on the unit until I read the list of praises and/or complaints in the forum. Thanks in advance, guinea pigs!
i agree waiting would be the smartest thing to do but i need howard when i start school next month. My campus and most of my city is WI-Fi so im in luck but 4 hours of live battery.....kind of short. wouldnt last the flight out there.

4 hours is in live satellite mode.
wifi use is rated at around 15 hours and recorded content something like 18-20.
It looks like I'll finally be tempted to get a new receiver; I'm still using my original three-year-old Audiovox SIR-PNP1 which I bought very soon after they were introduced and which is still working well despite some of the internal backlighting flickering from time to time.
One question regarding the WiFi---sorry if this was answered/discussed in a different thread. Any theories whether WiFi access be included as part of the existing Sirius subscription fee, or if it will be "BYO" WiFi access? (At this point I don't have a laptop computer and thus have no need to pay for wireless Internet access, so if I would need to pay an additional fee to an Internet provider for WiFi, then I'd be that much more likely to save the $100 and choose the SL10 over the SL100.)

Does anyone know how the WiFi will work? Most WiFi hotspots require that you be able to login using a name and password so that not just anyone can use their system. This will have to have a way to login.

Answer...there is no extra charge to use the Wifi option, however you need to have wireless broadband in your house, or be near a hotspot to use the Wifi option.

Answer...the sl100 will not have a browser, so if the hotspot requires you to pay to access the interent and you have to type in a username and password, you will be unable to access sirius.com. however, if you are in a hotspot that is password secured, you'll be able to type the password in to access the wifi signal.
