The Fork in the Road Monday through Fridays 9 pm ET
Music is such a big part of our lives… and for most of us, there’s one song in particular that was there during that one life-altering moment. SIRIUS wants to hear YOUR stories… and every weeknight, Kim Ashley will share one story of the tune that mattered most at your The Fork in the Road (and then she’ll play the track). To contribute your story, call 877-33-SIRIUS or email Kim at forkintheroad@sirius-radio.com.
The Charlie Monk Show Mondays 10 pm ET
There's a reason Charlie Monk is called "The Mayor Of Music Row." He's plugged into so many people and stories from up and down Nashville's musical epicenter. Now he’s got a show where he gets to play and say... whatever he wants! Dangerous? Maybe, but it'll make for some great radio. Special guests are always visiting Charlie in our Nashville studios to hang and tell the real stories behind your favorite songs.
Anyway...I like the laid back presentation of Prime Country. The emphasis seems to be on the early to mid 90s with a bit of today's stuff in there too. It's a good change of pace from some of the syrupy and overproduced ballads that you can get on New Country. Bill Rock is a pro (I remember him from WNBC and WYNY days) and knows the music. Kim Ashley does a good job too...but I think she's more suited to the Pulse. Prime Country is one of my "A" presets.

My wife listens to this channel a lot. It's not bad as far as programming. I'm not a big country fan so it wont be a preset of mine.
My wife feels that it doesn't play some types of country though. She feels a lot of the songs that Sirius country channels as a whole plays are the stereotypical, my wife left me so I'm gonna get drunk, redneck songs. She wishes they would play more positive songs. A lot of her country performers on her Artist Alert she wont listen to because of the songs they choose to play but that artist or group.
This is by far my favorite country station. I love the music from the late 70's through early 90's (before the current country "revival"). It's a band-A preset and I listen to it pretty often, especially at work.
Country music is not my kind of music, so this channel is not for me.
About the only thing I can say is that it was better than New Country from WTD Week 1 -- I actually recognized a couple of songs from the early 80's on this channel.

Late 70s/Early 80s seemed to have a lot of huge country crossover hits...Juice Newton, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Olivia Newton-John, Anne Murray, etc.

I think this is the weak link in Sirius' country lineup. I love classic country found on the Roadhouse, and I like current songs found on New Country. But I think the whole Garth Brooks and Shania Twain period was the low point in quality of country music.
Every other major genre of music (pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B) was better 10 to 15 years ago. But I think country is better today than it was then.
I tried and just didn't like this channel much. As far as I'm concerned, popular country music took a nosedive in the 80's and has yet to recover. Roadhouse and Outlaw Country are more my speed.

I am not a fan of country music. This is my first week of WTD with a country station, so I have to admit, I am not familar with the country formats on Sirius. Since I don't listen to any 'new country' music, I wouldn't recognize any of those artists/songs. However, growing up in my house in the 80s and early 90s, both my parents enjoyed country music, so I recognized quite a few of the songs on this station. I certainly didn't hate this station, and found I could listen to it for a couple of hours at a time, but it won't be a preset for me. I don't think I will be back to Prime Country.
I've been listening to this channel for the past few weeks (weekends only). I find it to be like most Country Stations out in the FM world.
The play some good stuff. I don't really see the difference in this channel and New Country. I've heard older songs on New Country (Mark McGuinn/Mrs Steven Rudy).
