I appreciate and enjoy attending Broadway shows, both when I am in NYC and when the travelling companies come to Pittsburgh. I have just never been able to really get into sitting and listening to show tunes.
I had never listened to Broadway's Best until this week. Some of the songs were rather entertaining, some I found to be almost unlistenable. Even though I will probably not tune in again after this week, I'm glad Sirius has this channel. It seems to do a good job presenting this kind of music and it's the kind of music you'll never get on FM.
If I could ever convince my parents to dump FM radio and get satellite radio, I know this would be my Mom's favorite channel.
I like this channel. Now, I'm not an expert on Broadway musicals. However, I heard a lot of songs that I knew. Even if I didnt' know the song, I probably have heard of the musical.
However, this can be good and bad. XM's On Broadway is a much deeper station. If I truly loved Broadway music, this station would probably annoy me.
Anyway, I'll be back from time to time as a change of pace.
I like the standards found on Channel 75, but not Broadway show tunes. Since the show tunes are made for the stage, by definition they are over the top and too literal. They're not my thing. Having said that, I think the concept is great, and I'm glad this channel exists. I think there are only two DJs, but they seem knowlegeble and enthusiastic. I like the fact that they play an entire cast recording on Mondays. Great idea, just not my type of music.
I attend a lot of Broadway shows, but can't listen to the channel. Maybe I'll stumble on to a song I like, but that's about it. To be honest, the WTD hour I gave it was the longest listen I've given Broadway's Best. I can't see another hour in my future.
However, I can see why there are lots of Broadway fans that would love this channel.

Looking for help on Sirius/XM??
I am not a fan of muscials in general. Just don't enjoy them or the genre. And I haven't been to a Broadway musical. I thought this was going to be a tough listen, however, it wasn't that bad. I was surprised (shocked) and the amount of songs I actually knew (I guess from the more popular musicals), and other songs that have just become standards over the years. Some songs were just horrible, while others were quite enjoyable. Not sure I would make it a preset yet, however, I could certainly see myself stopping by this station once in a while, just to see what they are playing...
Want to make a Broadway play or musical? Just take a group of actors and say "You guys know how to act right? like on TV and movies? ok now the only difference here is we want you to completely overdo it and throw in random dancing that has nothing to do with the story."
Contrary to every other music radio station I've listened to, other than Seattle's KZAM back in the 70s, I enjoy B's Best more with the DJ's than without, because they know so much about the business and the music and have very distinct personalities.
So what on earth happens to Michael Bourne? He does a new show, briefly, then disappears. Is it that he doesn't like doing Sirirus, is there a conflict with his jazz show, or that Sirius doesn't like him?
Anyway, there used to be at least three DJ's and now are just two. Will either of them be vanishing anytime soon?
A budget issue? What?
Oh, and for those of you who post just to say you don't like Broadway shows, there is an easy answer--don't listen and don't bother posting that you don't like them.
