Thank you for the cool software!!!, but i'm having problems running it.
I downloaded a fresh Windows Media Player 11 Beta from Microsoft's website today version:11.0.5705.5043
and getting errors.....
After I opened WMP11, I went to my account, entering my username and password, and this Dialog Box opened.
On the dialog box, the title is Microsoft.NET Framework
and it says:
Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue
The Given Key was not present in the dictionary.
Getting an error
Code:
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Sorry about the problems. I was working on the channel guide web service that feeds the artist / title info earlier today and it choked for a bit. It should be useable now. However.... it will only show 'unavailable' for the artist / title - yesterday alone the channel guide service used almost 30 GB of bandwidth - so I am having to make adjustments to keep the app online at all. It should still let you listen to music however - it just wont show you the artist / title. If you dont see any info (even 'unavailable') in the artist / title column - then the app will not run. So, open up WMP - when the 'unavailable' or anything else populates the artist / title columns - then you can listen to the channel. Sorry man, a group of people attacked it yesterday (single IP's were using over 32,000 connections in less than 1 hour) and it drained all the love.
I'll have a new version of the WMP plug-in out in about a week, it will not have the channel guide security / Denial of Service issues that this version has.
If you are still having issues after reading above - let me know, I'll help you get it working.
Sweet!
it works now. Music runs, but no artist/title.
I just have to click on "continue" and i can still listen to it.
DDoS is always hard to deal with, I hope you will find a solution to the attacks.
I just can't wait till the donation version starts
great job in developing the software. Thank you!

by the way, is there a way to basically send the information to MSN so my friends know what I'm listening to?
That'd be cool!!!
Can you switch between "AllElvis" and "Elvis Radio" or between "80s Hits" and "Big '80s".
The text for 'Channel Name' is what I get back from the actual SIR-ALP1 sat radio as the 'Channel Short Name' - there is also a 'Channel Long Name' - but I dont send it to the player. I'll see what it will take to put in an option for Channel Name display (Short or Long.)
Hi,
thanks for the new plugin.
Is it possible to have the plugin feed the artist/song info into the now playing window of WMP? Now it only shows reflector, it would be so cool if the actual info would be there - plus other tools could then grab the info to do other things that would make many people happy...

your,
Minime
Yea, 'reflector' is the prefix for what sirius is passing over as the name of the stream - which WMP (and its controls) uses as the name of the current artist / title. I have consulted a good amount of documentation and have asked on a few forums - yet I have found no good way to change the name of the artist / title that they are passing over, _INSIDE_ of windows media player. Now, that's not to say that an IM plugin could not use the real name of the artist / title - but the integration / support that is built in to WMP and MSN wont work 'out of the box' since sirius is sending 'reflector' as the name of the current stream. I'll find a solution to this that does not entail writing really ugly code - but it may take some time and a response from Microsoft about how to set that field in WMP (the WMP API set_Title / set_Artist do _nothing_) - I'll keep you posted.
I was forced to do an update today? What was this about? Version 2.1.1.63
Hey DAB! The WMP plugin checks for a new version of the 'core' SIRIUS Internet Radio Player every time it starts up - it was updated today so the WMP plugin wanted you to update also. It's not really a 'required' update - but the nag feature will pop-up when the player starts if you dont update it. Future updates should be far less frequent and less of a pain. This update was to address some text visibility issues (blue was too dark for some people to read.)
I apprecaite your patience.
