Movie Night on SIRIUS Pops Saturdays 9 pm ET
Pop the popcorn, dim the lights, sit back and enjoy great music from the movies! Every Saturday night you'll hear a full hour's worth of music from great film scores, both classic and current.
Sirius Pops has always been one of my presets, alongside Symphony Hall. While I can't always tell them apart, I guess that I gravitate more towards Sirius Pops, because of more familiarity with the songs, given its Classical's Greatest Hits distinction.
I wish I had more time to listen to classical, I really enjoy it.
I'm making myself a note to listen to Movie Night on SIRIUS Pops. I didn't know about this programming until now.
P.S. I enjoy hearing the DJ's so eloquently and correctly pronounce all those words that I'd have trouble with ... That was "Ma Vlast" composed by Bedrich Smetana.
Sirius Pops is a great listen. The tend to play shorter and more familliar pieces than Symphony Hall. The announcers are educated and do a nice job talking about the music, which is very typical of a classical music station. I like to periodically keep this on in my office.
As 7Aaron mentioned, I wasn't aware of the 'Movie Night' program either. I'll give that a listen. I enjoy the Cinemagic channel on XM.

Looking for help on Sirius/XM??
I really enjoyed Sirius Pops. I haven't listened to this station very much over the past few months. Now that I have a longer commute, I tend to stick with Symphony Hall.
Sirius Pops plays a lot more than Johann Strauss and Leroy Anderson. I really liked the music and intend to use this station as a background station with my home unit.
It won't replace the Symphony Hall preset, but I'm sure I'll be back frequently.
Even though I have had VERY little exposure to 'classical' music, I always appreciated it. I always wished I had listened to it or been exposed to it more as a kid. One of the programs I used to listen to for years on a AM station here, was a 1 hour classical program, that I really grew to enjoy and appreciate.
When I tuned to SIRIUS Pops this week, I enjoyed it. I can't lie, I found it great to have on in the background at work, and at home. I think I also found ANOTHER station to listen to while I go to sleep. I love having slower, relaxing music on in the background while I unwind and get ready for bed (and I like to listen to music/talk radio as I drift off). I liked listening to Standard Time and The Spa for this purpose, but I can see how SIRIUS Pops will get worked into the mix. I actually felt good the other night, relaxing, sitting around with a drink in one hand, listening to this station. I will be back!
The problem with this channel is the EXTREMELY limited playlist. If you listen for only one day, or if you only listen for 10 minutes a day, it's fine. But once I tried to put it on every day at work. I soon realized that they play the same pieces all the time. I can't imagine the DJs on this channel actually keep the sound up while the music is playing; it would drive them crazy. This classical channel is for people who only rarely listen to classical music. I'll stick with Symphony Hall.
I like this the best of the Classical stations. Being short attention spanned Gen Xer, Symphony Hall didn't keep my interest. The hosts give you great information on the pieces they play, and it's a good mix of pieces I recognize and new ones I have not heard before.
