Default Sirius Internet Radio being uploaded now?

It seems that Sirius Internet Radio, which we first reported the details on back in August, will be up and running shortly. The Sirius Radio Player is down, and reads "Sirius Internet Radio is Temporarily Unavailable; Please Try Again Later". Also, the "broken links" we talked about yesterday are now (almost) working, with the Sirius Internet Radio About page. You can now get up to the part of either registering a new username or putting in your existing, but if you try to put in your existing one, it will tell you it cannot find the account. Hopefully it will be up soon!

The SQ is a little better than the radio as for as I can tell. Music is 129kbps and everything else is 49kbps.

From 32 to 129 is huge... But, are there more talk stations, all the football? What is the EXCLUSIVE Internet stations??? 32 is fine for me on my silly laptop. All 129 is going to do is cause me to stick out as the largest network bandwidth hog at work.

This is a good idea by Sirius, and it should attract some people that don't want to buy a radio or just can't receive the service due to their location.

However, I think they should have came out with a brand new player to go along with this service.

Will this higher stream work with the Yahoo widget? What are the additional channels exactly?

When you login it automatically defaults to the regular service and you must hit a button to go to the premium service. This may mean that until he ads some code to accomplish this it probably won't work. By the same token this concerns me that the Stiletto may not support the higher bitrate service due to this.

In the other thread in this forum what channels are now available streaming is listed.

I think it may be the reverse. The Stilleto may not support the lower bit rate. If you buy a Stilleto you may be forced to also subscribe to the SIR service. It is no coincidence the SIR service and Stilleto are coming out around the same time.

It's an additional 3 dollars a month on top of the subscription. You can still get the regular internet streams for free with the subscription.

Default Additional Fee

Thanks for the update on the additional fee. As long as they don't give up the original free service, I'm fine. I'm really, really hoping they don't mandate everyone to upgrade and pay the additional fee in the future.

The difference is night and day. Too bad they won't make it standard. I may cancel my 3rd receiver to pay for it.

Is 128 better than the XM online subscription which is free? They have a high bandwidth option and low. Their free version at high bandwidth is much better than the free Sirius version. Making us pay $3 extra? What a ripoff.

Their high is at 64, so yes, it is better.
