Default Starmate Replay in 2006 Chevy Silverado

Here is my install for my Starmate Replay, took me about 3 hours.

Materials Used:
Starmate Replay
Factory stereo (without CD changer or XM)
Pro.Fit Legend VSM mounting bracket
PIE GM12-AuxV2 aux. input
12VDC outlet from Wal-Mart
RCA to 3.5mm cord that came with home kit
Tap-In squeeze connectors from Radio Shack
Tech-Flex braided sleeving
4" black wire ties

Install notes:
The PIE GM12 and the 12VDC outlet were connected to the existing cigarette lighter wiring with the tap-in squeeze connectors.

Here are some pics of the aux adapter and the wiring.

PIE GM12 aux adapter. The black and yellow wires are the power leads for the GM12. I used double sided tape to stick the GM12 in that spot. The red/white RCA cable is what comes out thru the braided hose (Tech-Flex) and plugs into the aux out jack of the Starmate. The rectangular hole you're looking thru is just to the right of the heat/ac controls.

Power leads (black & yellow) for the PIE GM12 connected to the cig lighter wiring (black and orange) with squeeze connectors. My truck has both a cig lighter and a 12v outlet on the dash, so there are two sets of black/orange coming out of that terminal. One set is for the actual cig lighter and the other set is for the 12v outlet.

Additional 12v outlet (to power the Starmate) wiring (black and red) connected to the existing 12v outlet wiring (black and orange) with squeeze connectors. In this pic, you also see two black wires connected to the existing 12v outlet wiring. I wanted an additional 12v outlet underneath the rear seat, so I installed one there and ran the wiring to here.

In this pic is the added 12v outlet (bottom right) with the Starmate power cable plugged into it. Both are wrapped in electrical tape so there is no chance of them vibrating loose and coming apart. The bundle of wire with a zip-tie (in bottom center of pic) is the excess Starmate antenna wire.

This is another pic of the added 12v outlet with the Starmate power cable plugged into it. The zip-ties are there to keep all of the excess wiring for the Starmate power cable tucked away securely.

This shows the braided hose (Tech-Flex) that the wiring comes thru, as well as the Starmate mounting plate and the Pro-Fit VSM Legend mounting bracket. This also shows how nicely the Pro-Fit bracket mounts. The two screws that hold it are existing dash screws. You pull those out, put the Pro-Fit bracket there and put the screws back in.

This pic is just to show the little storage compartment that goes back into that rectangular hole next to the heat/ac controls. I believe that area may be different depending on what options/accessories are factory installed.

Where did you get the Tech-Flex? I've been looking for some to be able to cover up my cables that are exposed on my install. Someone had posted a link a while back to a website where it can be purchased but it was a very large amount and I didn't want to spend that much money plus shipping for just 6-8 inches of tech flex. Is there a store that I can go into to purchase this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I bought the Pro Fit VSM Legend from Crutchfield. The p/n for a 2002 TrailBlazer is CV-78-03-L.

I got the Tech-Flex out here in SoCal at a store called Fry's Electronics. If you don't have a Fry's, try an electronics supply store. Online you can get it from www.partsexpress.com. Heck, if all you need is 6-8 inches, shoot me a private message with your mailing address and I'll send you some.

Update:

I finally got around to taking pics of the aux adapter and the wiring inside the dash. Next I need to get pics of the antenna wiring. I wish I would have taken all of these pics when I initially did the install. Would've been easier! Oh well!

Thumbs up Quick question about the antenna install

How did you the the wiring thru your headliner? I have an 02 GMC Sierra and want to run my antenna the same way. Any photo of how you did it would be great. Thanks and awsome install, very clean.

If you would have used that unused area to the right of the climate controls, you could have hidden the wires. They disappear in behind the unit nicely.

Where does one find the instructions to remove the dash face with out damage? I have a 2002 Sierra, and would like to perform a similar install.
