Default Choppy Audio In and Around Boston

I have been having this problem the past couple days. I commute into Boston everyday from the north. Everything seems to sound fine until I get closer to Boston. Once I am within a couple miles of downtown, the sound starts breaking up, gets all choppy and unlistenable. This continues while I am in and around Boston. On my way home once I get a few miles outside of Boston the sound returns to normal. What can be going on here? The signal appears to be half to full terrestrial while this is going on. Anyone having similar experiences?

Edited To Add: Even though the signal appears to be half to full, I do get one or two "acquiring signal" messages on this ride.

REAL bad today (Thursday 10/26)..Echoes, dropouts, loss of signal, poor quality broadcast. Wonder if its related to the free simulcast online?

Those are the symptoms I am experiencing. I am happy I am not alone. However, I can't see how the free online promotion would have anything to do with it.

The Boston satellite over-the-air repeater may be down.

Just asked my wife and she says the same thing. Glad to hear it's not just her.

Unhappy Sirius Very Choppy

I am happy to hear I am not the only one with the problem. It seems to go away when I get out of the city past Rte 128, and my Starmate Replay picks up a satellite signal, which leads me to believe it does have to do with the repeaters around Boston. (I'm VERY happy its not the antenna connection on my radio, which was my first thought before finding this thread). Does anyone know how to get a note to Sirius techs to investigate. I cant take this choppy in and out audio anymore!

I am so frustrated. Sirius support is so incompetent (or maybe I wasn't speaking with the right person...even if I wasn't, this lady was still very incompetent). I called up, explained my problem, and the rep just kept repeating the same thing over and over. She kept saying that it was an issue with the FM frequency I was using to tune into Sirius. I kept telling her that I don't use the tuner but use the auxiliary jack. She just kept stumbling over her script, not listening to what I was telling her. It is obviously a Sirius issue that they aren't acknowledging. Very frustrating. Someone needs to be notified of this.

I'm having the same exact problem. I live in Beacon Hill and commute north to Woburn every morning. The reception is horrible in the city until I get up to about the Rt. 16 exit on 93 north and then it's great. Same thing coming back into the city at night. I followed the "contact us" links on sirius.com and sent an email to them about it. They got back to me and said they had no reports of service disruption in the area but that they'd forward the message to the programming department.
I think everybody should call/email so they know this is an issue.

Default Same Problem in Beantown

Having problem in and around Boston the last two days (Humm-Howard Factor). The people at Sirius Help Desk are not very helpful. Have gotten everything from defective antenna to what I think is the problem ,.downed Repeaters in Boston. Near Route 16 on 95 North going on to the Tobin is where I'm picking up the problem. Sirius has requested for more powerful static (in space) satellites for better coverage and less dependenace on ground repeaters, it's still a ways off.. More help and comments please

Personally I would give it another day, up until yesterday it's been problem free for myself. I Use the radio more in Northern Maine then Boston and it has worked flawlessly, there is only one repeater in Portland and never had a problem. I really think something is up with the FCC (they control the Repeating Stations owned by Terrestrial Radio) and Mr. Stern's promotion seems to have coincided nicely with the current problems.
